Battery problem/ charger problem/ or laptop circuit problem?

Stupid Acer first told me that there was a problem with the battery and that I should change it. Ignored it and just left it on charger most of the time. Then after a few months the laptop charging light on the laptop started spazzing in and out randomly(charge/no charge). Got a new battery and some times it stayed on but spazzed off occasionally as well. Now its almost always off and the last time it turned on and actually charged the battery for me was a couple of weeks ago.

New-ish battery although it's a pos ebay one. The light on the charger is always on and the thing is that I can turn on the laptop and run it straight off the charger with no battery in but it has randomly shut off as if through a loss of power.

Sounds like its overheating. Does it get very hot before it turns off? Any clicking sounds? Can you tell if the fan is working?

I'll have to keep an eye on if it overheats...I do use it a lot though. No clicking.Hmm wth i don't know why i didn't really think about it but i'm not sure my fan is running or atleast not as well as it should? I put my ear to the bottom and hear a slow drone that I just assumed was the fan...I don't feel any real air flow though only heat being emitted from the machine itself.

Chargers with laptops are complicated. You have to treat the laptop like a fish going into new water...sorta. You have to let the computer drain first, then begin charging, then let it drain again, just so it knows its battery life and charge potential.

Anyway, in your case, I would guess that
    1. The charger is broken
    2. You're not charging it effectively (read the instruction before doing anything)
    3. Overheating (Probably due to the charger or battery)

The shutting off when running off the wall power thing makes me think overheating. I would check to see if the airway is clogged with dust. My laptop was doing that a few times, but I just blew the dust out and it never happened again.

If it always starts up with just the charger and after a while shuts completely off randomly then it is a overheating issue and you can try to get aerosol compressed air can and blow into the intake(usually where the fan is) making sure to stick something in so the fan does not move. You can use a air compressor too just make sure it is on very low setting(PSI).

Seems like two things. The charger itself is damaged. If you run it without battery, jiggle the ac cord around the charger, and your laptop dies, that's a good sign it's a faulty module. Confirm on The Google with your computer model number and "charger issues" or something like it.

    2) Possibly your laptop is stuck in "no charge mode". Either from a low charge rate (**** charger again) or some weird hardware/software glitch courtesy of MS or Acer's hardware parts. The Google again....

Rushed in the last post. I don't think its the battery. Might be a bad part...where your charger meets the power cord, that got worn down over time.

    ...happened to me with Dell
