Lin has made plenty of clutch hits this season.

Rafer's ain't scared of nothing, he just misses them.

omg I can't believe I'm actually saying this...but I would rather have Skip. Lin shoots better overall, but he is still a very crappy shooter and Rafer was a legit PG.

rafer was a 35-36% shooter from deep on predominately wide open looks. he didn't turn the ball over, but he was a pretty putrid offensive player. he had a sub 50% ts every year with us. i think lin is better, he's just more a threat (though alston was also solid defensively).

i still stand by had we alston for the first two games of that jazz series in 2008, we win that one. we lost both games at home without him, then win g3 with him. shoulda won g4, but we couldn't grab a rebound. blew em out in g5, and in g6, iirc, he had to leave at halftime (where tmac had 30 points at half), and were only down a couple. alston was our only other reliable ball handler on the team (since brooks wasn't in the rotation). ugh bobby jackson...

Yea I completely agree with you. Its ironic because that was his best season where he was playing super efficient in most games and taking over. AB wasn't ready that year and we suffered.

I'll still take Lin over him though.

We need the space jam monstar to take Alston's handle and transfer it to Lin.

I like Rafer more than most. He was a bad shooter, but he did a good job orchestrating the offense and playing defense. He was more seasoned and savvier.

They're just about as inconsistent as each other, so it was really hard for me to choose. If we compare Linsanity in NY last season with what Rafer was throwing up during the 22 win streak then it's tough.
Okay, so Linsanity was probably a bit bigger than that, but there were glimpses.

I wanna give Rafer some love, but Lin has the bigger upside and production wise, based on this season alone, I think Lin's a better overall player so I would pick him over Rafer. Handles alone this ain't a contest, but if we're talking about NBA game-changing player, Lin gets my vote.

Come on Rafer was hot garbage, he could not shoot to save his life...

Lin is way better than him.

Wow, this isn't even close. I don't even need to compare stats, but even the eye tests tells me Lin is much better. Some of these posts really makes me wonder how much bb IQ does the average poster have here.

He never orchestrated the offense. Tmac would almost always bring the ball up himself and run the offense

I'm not going to be a hypocrite and say anything good about Rafer. He is what he is, or rather was. I'd much rather be taking a chance on Jeremy Lin than go on some journey in a BBS time machine "in search of Rafer Alston."

Everyone saying Lin is better is looking at it from a perspective of potential. Really, it's just a terrible thread, as we don't know when we're comparing the two and in what setting.

Lin's got more potential. Lin will likely have a better career in the end.

But as it stands, Rafer would have killed him in the street game. In the NBA, he would contribute more due to his experience. Lin, injury aside, was mentally absent in the playoffs. It hit him hard and he couldn't quite shake the rise in intensity. It's sort of like Lin vs Fisher, . Experience over potential.
