Was just about to post the same thing. This movie looks good though. I think this will be his first decent movie in years.
I was more excited to see Paul GreenGrass' name than Tom Hanks. For some reason I had thought he quit making movies. The last I can remember was the one with Matt Damon about the WMDs in Iraq...Green Zone or something like that.
Please, God, let this Tom Hanks movie not suck. Larry Crowne? Mega-suck. Julia Roberts mailing it in. Nia Vardalos showing she can't write scripts that don't deal with her big, fat, crazy Greek family. Extraordinarily Loud and Incredibly Close? Replace "loud" with "s***ty" and "close" with "putrid". Cloud Atlas? I know some people here liked it, and it at least had ambition, but it skip-edited between stories so fast that it was like a Ritalin crash. And it did Hanks no favors career-wise. Pleeeeeeeeeease let this be Hanks' comeback as an actor. My wife loves his movies (pre-crap phase).
Larry Crowne was so bad. I remember seeing the trailer for that movie and it was so poorly constructed that I literally thought the Larry Crowne character was mentally handicapped. I thought it was the story of a guy who was r****ded getting fired from his job and having to start his life over. Part of that misunderstanding was Hanks' bizarre choice of having his character repeatedly saying "speck-tack-ah-ler" when things went well for him, and I think the trailer showed every single clip of that in the trailer. I figured it was Tom Hanks attempt to get back in the academy award scene.
What? Hollywood portrayed people in a negative light? You don't say?!? What exactly is this based on? Or is it like a composite of all those pirate attacks?
Does WHAT again? Try his hand at that terrible chicago accent he had in "Catch me if you can" again? Or is this a new bad accent?
