NFL teams will do whatever it takes to win. They will give anyone a second chance (and sometimes three or four chances) if they think it will help them win. Can anyone say PacMan Jones? VY's success in college gave him a huge pay day, and an opportunity in the NFL. That's all it was.....an opportunity. He had early success with the Titans, and he was taking advantage of the opportunity he was given. Than the wheels started to fall off a little bit, and it became quite clear that VY couldn't handle adversity. So much so, that his own family and some of his Titan teammates thought that he might harm himself. Who knows the real reason(s) why VY isn't with a NFL team right now. However he isn't, and if a NFL team thought that he would make their team better they'd bring him in. To me the question to VY is, how BAD do you want it? He says he wants it but he's not wiling to go to Canada where he might be able to get playing time and a chance to lead a team. The clock is ticking on his career. The longer he's out of football the harder it's going to be to get another opportunity in the NFL. Kurt Warner was willing to go to the Arena league. What is VY willing to do? Obviously NFL teams don't care what he did at UT or the Titans early in his career at this juncture. I know he's waiting for an opportunity in the NFL, but if it doesn't happen this yr, he needs to put his pride aside, and go somewhere where he can play. If he doesn't do this, his career won't be stalled, it will be over!!!! And it very well might already be over.
I honestly don't care to spend time searching for a article about the rumbling that went on with Vince and his run ins with Mack early on in his college career. I wish I could remember every time i heard/read someone make an slight reference to those cases but I seem to have lost my VY journal. I do think their relationship got better throughout his college career though. What makes one opinion more valuable than another? Objectivity. I don't buy every positive spin blindly, so I apologize for that. Again, and again...I'm not doubting that he had one of the best seasons ever. It was incredible. Literally. I didn't say it was luck, so I have no idea what you are talking about. Take a step back and think about how dumb it is for you to use a word that I didn't use. Also, thank you for referencing how amazing he was at running the ball. That just proves my point that he relied very heavily on his natural ability as an athlete. Relying on natural ability doesn't always work out in the pros, as we've seen. Are you seriously going to go all immature "where did you go to college?" angle? Give me a break and grow up. Talk about sounding like an idiot. Oh, and it was Arizona. Before you go scrambling to see if they played against "VY", they did not. And please don't even try to play the weak "UT hater" card.
Here's when his career ran off the track..... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/E-xP-jZnB2M" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
David Garrard calls it quits in NY. Maybe Vince has a shot. Sadly there isn't a solid QB to mentor him there.
People are still talking about Vince Young? What the hell? Anyone got any updates on Patrick O'Bryant or Rodney Carney while you're at it? If an athlete hasn't caught on by 26-27, it's over.
60% win percentage, ROY and 2 pro bowl experiences.... he's had a pretty good career already but his drama outweighs his ability to teams. It's sad
everytime this thread gets pushed up to the top of the forum, I click on it expecting some kind of meaningful update. #whydoIkeepclicking
Well, he DOES have an interview for Sales Floor Lead at Target this weekend, so there's that. Let's cross our fingers.
http://www.cbssports.com/general/bl...ng-from-ut-even-tops-winning-a-national-title Vince Young: Graduating from UT even tops winning a national title AUSTIN, Texas -- Vince Young produced arguably the greatest performance in the history of college football on its biggest stage when he carried Texas to the BCS title in the 2006 Rose Bowl. But as spectacular as Young was in Pasadena against top-ranked USC, that day still won't feel quite as special as Friday morning when he is awarded his college degree from UT in the school's graduation ceremonies on campus. "This will rank No. 1 because it is what I came to school for," Young told CBSSports.com Thursday after his workout session in the Longhorns weight room. "I came here to get an education, and to win a national championship. And now, I get to put that smile on my mom's face."
<blockquote class="twitter-tweet"><p>So proud of Vince. When he led us to title & left for NFL he promised us all that he'd graduate and today he is! <a href="http://t.co/9N4S55ng1U" title="http://twitter.com/UT_MackBrown/status/335428207337693185/photo/1">twitter.com/UT_MackBrown/s…</a></p>— Mack Brown (@UT_MackBrown) <a href="https://twitter.com/UT_MackBrown/status/335428207337693185">May 17, 2013</a></blockquote> <script async src="//platform.twitter.com/widgets.js" charset="utf-8"></script>
Congrats to Vince for graduating. He's turned his life around, but he's still not an NFL quarterback. Time to move on to other ventures in life.
With the alumni network he's tapped into, and the UT college degree, Mr. Young will find himself with some fairly impressive opportunities in the real world. Glad to see he finished the degree.
kudos to the man for finishing. and, kudos to the BBS community for not dropping any Wunderlich jokes yet.
So can we all agree that this guy's NFL career is finally over? Where do you guys think he would have went if Bud Adams hadn't had wanted to stick it to Houston? We all know the coaching staff in Tennessee wanted Leinart. Would VY have slipped to mid or late first round if not for Bud Adams?
