I'm not looking for sympathy from someone who hates me and doesn't even know me. Just because I am able to see the good and BAD of Jeremy and offer a objective opinion that pisses you off but I really don't care.
Yes, because thats all you were doing, lol. right? You were so sweet and kind to me and I accused you of stalking. I'm so sorry what was I thinking, lol. GTFO liar.
You were calling me all kinds of names because I said that the Rockets are going after two more all-stars. I said that they might not get them (No one can tell the future). But the plan is to get at least one of them. That can be via trade or free agency. And you were calling me all these names. I even stated that it's the Houston Rockets "Plan" to do so and we might have to trade Asik and Lin to get the third all-star after we got the second one. This guy agrees "Of course, this is only useful to the Rockets if they elect not to use their cap room, which is expected to be plentiful (if they want it to be). “Plan A” for the Rockets appears to be to take a run at a premier free agent like Dwight Howard or Chris Paul, though there is no guarantee that such a plan will be successful. While the acquisition of a superstar free agent is a distinct possibility for the Rockets, it is far from likely to happen." http://rockets.clutchfans.net/3883/francisco-garcia-rockets-keeping-all-options-open/
It is much easier for the coaches and Harden to adjust than to do trades. Live by the three, die by the three, it's not something that should be set in stone. Well, Lin is improving anyways. And again: It's quite obvious that he can't be playing THE star on any great team and have a long career. He has to change his game from recklessly driving to the basket to become passing oriented and then pick his spots penetrating. I believe that his willingness to sacrifice for the team, his flexibility and his willingness to defer are his assets and not weaknesses. We heard that he used to play SG in college and had to learn to play PG in the NBA. Think about it, how many great SGs in college didn't make it in the NBA as PG? Dixon, Bogans, etc, or even as a scorer? Learning to play off the ball is only going to be good for him, his elite court vision wouldn't leave because of that, it's only going to make him more efficient. In light of this, I think that McHale and the Rockets have actually provided a good environment for Lin to mature into a more steady and consistent player. Having a deadly three would be huge for his career; learning to better fight through screens would be nice; improving his ast/to ratio would do wonders. I do agree that he has been misused this season and that has cost the Rockets some games because he wasn't allowed to play as well as he could have, that really pi$$ed me off but maybe it's good down the road. Nothing has come easy for him in his entire career and one shouldn't expect it to be forthcoming. We don't know whether the Harden/Lin combo would work but I think it just might. Harden never had a training camp with the Rockets and it was his first year starting. He was playing well at the beginning of the season but apparently either got worn down or figured out, declined later in the season and got shut down half of the time when driving in the post-season. I think he is a smart guy, unless the People's elbow from MWP affected him, he will figure out that it's best to have Lin play more PG and himself focus more on scoring. Then he would have more in the tank at the end, less wear and tear and most importantly more energy on the defensive end. It has become common in the media to say that he needs to play both ways to be considered a true winner and he probably takes note. In the playoffs, Harden shot below 40%. In his most dominant game he shot 7 of 9 from deep. That's where he's most dangerous. Relying on ref calls could win you many regular season home games but won't win you any championship. Lin doesn't have to play like he did in NYC and probably shouldn't. It was very exciting to watch but that is not a champion's way. He was playing a little bit like AI and that's very dangerous. I hope Asik learn to catch better and Jones grow into a very capable starter. Then the team could run better PnRs (double PnR?) and that's best for Lin and Harden. I don't think there is a way of Rocket basketball set in stone, it's not like McHale has any kind of rigid system or anything; being quite new as a coach, he has much room to grow and develop new tricks. I hope they would observe how Parker/Ginobili, Thomas/Joe D, Billups/Rip, are/were able to win together along with a scoring big man. They have to understand that Melo ball, Stack ball or T-Mac ball wouldn't take a team far; Harden is just not as physically gifted as MJ, LeBron or Durant. Even Kobe needed a big like Shaq or Gasol. Unless the extremely unlikely event of CP3 coming, https://twitter.com/Ohmeomy/status/330796875093524483they will grow, work together and have the opportunity to be great. It is tremendous news to hear that they are going to work out during the summer in Cali; to build on what they have accomplished this season, developing more confidence, chemistry and stability.
There is kind of a parallel here: During Chris Bosh's tenure with the Toronto Raptors, the roster was built around him as their franchise player. When joining the Miami Heat in 2010, Bosh was expected to take on a more complementary role on offense alongside LeBron James and Dwyane Wade. “Everybody says they want to win,’’ said Bosh. “But it’s always about what you’re willing to sacrifice to win. My situation is totally different. I rarely get play calls and before I was getting about 20 touches a game just off play calls (with Toronto). And that’s just something that I had to get used to. Just trying to match a different role in a different situation, it’s been extremely difficult for me. But I’ve kind of embraced that challenge and it continues to be a challenge. It’s never been easy. I try to rise to the top no matter what I do.’’ http://twitter.com/christomasson
Not really a similar situation. Lin is a PG, and by definition should be initiating the offensive sets and have control of the ball for longer than any other player, barring an historic elite offensive playmaker at one of the wing positions (Lebron, Jordan, Kobe). Most traditional PGs do not thrive in systems where they are in essence, playing a SG position (Fisher, Chalmers, Harper). Bosh can excel at his new position because his strengths are highlighted in the Miami system (open mid-range Js...had the highest FG% of his career this year in Miami)...he may be getting less shots, but he's clearly just as efficient as when he was in Toronto.
@JLin7: Lookin like an asian Bane...thanks Gatorade for a morning of body testing! #GSSI http://t.co/5Tp9CAkTiB
I would propose here again we trade Lin straight for Lowry. The Asian population in Toronto would love to have Lin there and the Rockets will get a similar player and a fan favorite back with nearly 3 million a year saved.
Nothing better to do. Mem vs OKC game is kinda boring. I'll take the bait. I don't think we should trade him to Toronto. We have Beverley, let him start. Trade Lin for a 3rd round draft pick, that way we save 8.3m.
Why a 3rd round? That's way too valuable. No self-respecting GM is going to trade that valuable asset for a 24 year old developing PG that puts up respectable numbers as a starter at the PG position.
I wasn't bating. Seriously Lin is no longer an asset for the team acoording to many fans. Why not get Lowry back and save money at the same time. If Lin goes to Toronto, I believe the LOFs there will bury LOHs in no time, there will be peace there.
And Lowry is a better asset than Lin at this point? He's a ball-dominant PG whose a career .337 3-PT shooter. He's a decent defender but a bit undersized at 6'0. He's not that athletic and he's already 27 years old with 8 seasons under his belt. What you see is what you get. At least with Lin, he should only be able to go up from here. Lin still has more to offer this team.
I wasn't bating. OK Seriously Lin is no longer an asset for the team acoording to many fans. Why not get Lowry back and save money at the same time. Let Clutch Fans control the assets of the Rockets... Ummm, interesting proposition. We'd probably have Scola, Landry, Dragic... back in no time. Heck... Dream, Gylde, Bull... suit up! Mario Elie! If Lin goes to Toronto, I believe the LOFs there will bury LOHs in no time, there will be peace there. Are you kidding? Lin has been marked by the goddess of darkness to be eternally hated for remainder of his time as an NBA player. No escape! We will follow him and hate him wherever he goes!
I don't have the talent to assess a player's talent so I can only concur to the majority fans collective assessment. Acording to a poll, Lin is now public enemy No.2 behind White, so he can't be better than Lowry, by logic. At the meanwhile, Toronto would love to have Lin there, why not do both team a favor? On the intangible side, the annoying Lin fans will be shipped out of town at the same time, me included
Maybe there are differences in terms of position but this is closer to what I was talking about: And that’s just something that I had to get used to. Just trying to match a different role in a different situation, it’s been extremely difficult for me. But I’ve kind of embraced that challenge and it continues to be a challenge. It’s never been easy. I try to rise to the top no matter what I do.
Unlike Houston, Toronto is a cosmopolitan town with younger population, multi cultural flavor, and is lot more international. My guess that there are many LOHs in Houston partially because Lin is different. This alone may not be sufficient for Lin to be "hated" but the LOFs who are also different than "us" are really annoying to the old timers. In Toronto, the old timers are happy enough with the Maple leafs.
At this point in time, Lakers and Rockets may both benefit from a trade involving any or all of the players that are Lin, Asik, Dwight, Gasol, and <insert pg from LA>. This isn't just a Lin fan pipe dream, it really just might be the case now with the growing chance that Dwight wants out combined with Kobe's season ending injury that may or may not bring him back at 100% next season. LA will need someone to effectively man the point while Kobe slowly comes back, but also, LA will also need someone who can play off the ball as well. Lin CAN play off the ball, just not as well, but I'm sure he will vastly improve on that part of the game over the summer. And either Dwight or Gasol in Houston, would be great Houston. If Lakers were to trade someone to Houston, it would probably be Howard just cuz Kobe gets what Kobe wants...
Doesn't Golden State have the biggest Asian fanbase? Honestly, you don't run away from Haters, you face them (or ignore them). As the great M.Gaye said, "Love will conquer hate". Haters time is running out because I think Lin will become a good player in this league and although they'll always be there, their opportunities will become fewer and fewer and they will look sillier and sillier. Most importantly, Houston FO don't give a S*** what haters say about Jeremy Lin... and neither does Jeremy.
Everyone just assumes that Lin is some kind of cash cow that those mindless Asians will just follow (with their money). Does anyone have any actual data to back this claim up? How much money is Lin actually making the Rockets? Is his jersey a big seller, and even if it is, doesn't that revenue go to the whole league? People seem to just assume that he's a golden goose with absolutely no proof at all.
