I agree with CisBud4you. The problem with "liberals" is they aren't liberal. San Francisco is supposed to be one of the most liberal cities in the world. Maybe so "morally," but that is it. The government control is stifling. You can't breathe without permission.

In Taiwan perhaps, in China nowadays I seriously doubt that. He probably enjoyed that type of treatment during the Linsanity days, but not now. I can't shake the feeling that Lin's popularity in China is a fad, the dude is neither Chinese nor is he a star player. You have to be at least one to be a popular athlete in China. Heck even Yi have 3-4 times the number of followers/fans on his Weibo account.

yup. I'm not sure what he thinks is 'nonsense' but as an entrepreneur who has started/helped start numerous companies I can attest that it is one of the worst business environments in the US. In fact, LA/CA was ranked last amongst all states. I know what I'm talking about. Lots of my friends & colleagues are LEAVING CA to go to ...ahem...Texas

LA TIMES ARTICLE (hardly right wing) on CA being bad for business.

Not taht Dwight cares. Honestly, with gobs of money, LA is a great place to live.

Depends on the person, some people actually prefer living in a highly urban environment (eg. NYC & Chicago) as opposed to a very suburban like environment (Houston & LA to some extent).

You hardly need cite articles to back up California's stifling regulations on businesses, but glad you did.

There is, of course, the opposite side of it. Living in a state where you can own a plant full of hazardous material and somehow not let it be inspected for decades. When the thing blows up, townspeople still call the plant owner "a nice man".

If I may quote Robert DeNiro from "Midnight Run": "Now THAT'S living in denial."

In California, at factories/plants, "green" groups actually have little watchdog guard shacks to report any flaring/burning off of nasty chemicals (which Texas plants do all day with no one blinking twice about it).

Shoot, this thing is becoming too D&D-ish. Back on track:

    Dwight Howard.

    Dwight Howard.

    Dwight Howard.

    Dwight Howard.

    Dwight Howard.

    Dwight Howard.

This made me laugh so hard... Our economy sucks but at least we make sure the air is clearer!!!!

Ridiculous...and exactly why California is dying. Id like to go into detail how its absurd to say that we do not have quality inspections, and their are always exceptions (case you pointed out) but this isnt the place.

Just say there is a reason why people are moving to Houston and why our economy is one of the strongest in the country...and why California's is the exact opposite.

According to your link, Houston is the 38th ranked international city in the world and actually 1 spot ahead of Atlanta.

Having said that, Houston is an international city and it's not even debatable. If you want to argue over which city is more international then I say who really cares about that.

players aren't drawn to "international" cities

no one is clamoring to sign with Toronto and it doesn't get any more international than that

Kobe was big in China before Yao even got into the league... So I really doubt Kobe's popularity over there is a result of Yao. McGrady is a different story.

Dwight went from 11 million in endorsements with Orlando to 2.4 million

    Really was a nightmare season

The popularity of NBA basketball in general skyrocketed in China after Yao entered the league. Kobe might have been popular, but his status in China grew to the proportions it is today AFTER Yao's entry. Awareness and exposure to the NBA was expanded to the level it is now once Yao became a prominent figure here in the US.

Anyways, back on point. What's up cyberx?!?

Yao paved the way for basketball in China hes a pioneer but Kobe is more popular than him especially since Pau hasn't played much last 4-5 years
