LOL i dont think it was you know (it doesnt make sense to say you already you know.... I think was saying Houston you already shhhhhh (Like be quite) know whos here... were just probably reading to much into it... Hopefulley Cyberx can confirm something to us soon..
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Global_city New York Chicago LA San Fran Washington DC Miami Boston Dallas Atlanta Philly are all ranked ahead of Houston as Global Cities in the United States.
tried googling it but I couldnt find it...I read somewhere that houston and san antonio homed more pro athletes then any other city. I think san antonio was actually first.
I do not think you know what you are talking about. Fashion may not be the highlight of the city but as far as an "international destination" there is more cultural diversity here than any other city in the country. There is plenty of arts and museums here and the dining is far better than most other cities. I take it you aren't from here or have never been here..
Have you all seen this? http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/specials/fortunate50-2013/index.html http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/specials/fortunate50-2013/index.html#dwight-howard SI is showing Dwight with only $2.4 million in endorsement income. That's a lot lower than I would have thought.
probably that's the reason why he wants to go to a big market teams to pull off an endorsement deal from Adidas similar to Rose's.
Oh yea well of course. I used to live in Chicago and outside of the gang violence there is a lot of culture and better museums etc there. Houston has just as much of everything as any other city I just think the fact that a lot of it is so spread out everywhere it isn't as attractive as other cities where they are more condensed.
Wow. Nice find. Only 2 million in endorsements. Jeremy should set up a trip to China with him after he signs with Houston.
Lebron at $39 million in endorsment income. Kobe at $19 million. Rose at $17 million. Wade $11.5 million, Durant $11 million, Melo $5.8 million, CP3 $3.8 million, Amare $3.5 million, Dwight $2.4 million. That's kinda crazy. I can understand why he's talking about his image, etc.
That is pretty crazy. I would have thought he would have made more than that. Lebron is a no brainer. I would have though CP3 would have more after hitting the lotto with that State Farm commercial with Cliff
What will that accomplish? Lin's popularity and marketability in China is no where near that that of Yao's, or even Yi Jianlian's when he entered into the league.
so the tax savings on his endorsements is nothing.... Well wade made 11 mil off china. Thats who he singed with. Come on to h-town howard. How much did harden make this year? I saw him on tv spots as much as anyone else.
One study from 2010. Why didn't you look for others and ones that are more recent, like from 2012? Here are two that show Houston higher and trending up: http://www.theatlanticcities.com/jobs-and-economy/2012/05/americas-most-powerful-global-cities/1904/ http://www.atkearney.com/gbpc/globa...Zpc1DO/content/2012-global-cities-index/10192 Must be that the only credible studies are the ones that you agree with.
Houston's Chinatown >>>> Chicago's and NY's Chinatown. (can't remember LA's) Come on, Dwight. You can have 5 dollar beef noodles for the rest of your career.
I just used the one that came up first and was done by an award winning sociologist. It is the most referenced report on "global cities" and is considered the benchmark work in the field. You are welcome to dismiss it though. The studies you linked aren't the same type of study as the original global city report that was put together by an award winning sociologist. The one you listed (which is basically the same report at two different places) is heavily weighted toward economic power which is skewed by the economics of the oil and gas industry in Houston. The creator of the formula is also pretty heavily criticized for his work in other areas. Like I said Cat, no need to work yourself in a tizzy. It isn't about whether I agree with it or disagree with it. The point is that people too often think of Houston as the 4th most important city in the country simply because of population.
