I keep seeing that figure being thrown around in the BBS but isn't that sort of a moot point? I mean, the 8 million difference assumes he stays in Houston or some other state with no state taxes for the duration of his contract. Not that I think that should necessarily guide his choice, but guaranteed money is still guaranteed money
The $8m is all he would have to earn in a 5th year from anyone due to the tax differences and discount rates. Also depending on how much he has saved over the years, it's possible he makes more here even without that 5th year (ie where he gets 0 for the fifth year) than he does for a guaranteed 5 in LA. The only wild card is endorsements, but evidence tends to suggest that, you make more by winning than you do by being in a big market.
Did I miss something was there some other confirmation of the dinner meeting...other than cybrex? Or are we just going off whathe said?
Its not cause that 8 million is only if that is his last contract. He will actually make more money PER YEAR on his salary with us because no state income tax, no millionaire tax, cheaper cost of living...plus no state tax on his ENDORSEMENTS. That could be so much bigger then any of us know. If howard decides to opt out in year four like most free agents have done (bosh, wade, melo, lebron etc) Then he actually loses money....so money has nothing to do with staying in LA.
dude, youre reachin. Your troll skills are very weak. When you have to explain youre trolling youve failed already. just stop
Biggest problem is that if he comes to Houston, he would have to live in Houston which he might not want to do.
only in the off season... He can have place wherever he wants I doubt that is a deal breaker. Cause I mean they cant really do too much in season anyway. Houston is much cheaper, and relaxing. Help him concentrate more. Then he can go crazy all he wants in the off season.
Yea did we miss something? Who confirmed the dinner? Cybrex can you confirm there indeed was a dinner already? Also does SWTsig have the reputation like Doc Rocket/ cybrex on this things...
Yeah that would suck, a house in River Oaks 15 minutes from Toyota with no 405 traffic, a limo ride each way, personal chef, private theater, own your own nightclub, a G5 at Hobby waiting to take you anywhere in the world at 500 miles an hour while you sip Crystal, warm weather for the winter season, an adoring fan base, Beyonce to introduce you around, a suite at Reliant where you'll watch Super Bowl 51. #hardtoendure.
Yah thats what I missed...I went through the thread and tried to find something but couldnt. This is the only thing I can tell that "confirmed it" James Harden @JHarden13 12 May It's way too hot out in LA. Cool pool party TurnUp tho. You already Shhhnnooooo!!!
Still not LA or NY. There's a reason why real estate is so high in those places. Everyone wants to be there.
Houston by any accounts is not considered an international destination. Museums, fashion, dining, arts etc.. are what makes a city desirable. Yes Houston has low taxes but in the end it may not matter enough for a guy making a lot of money.
Houston is top five or six in the U.S. for all the things you mentioned except fashion. People still don't know this city. Do some research brah.
Can't players go anywhere they want during the off-season? I think the NBA season has a pretty hectic schedule. When do players find the time to go to Museums, Fashion, Dining, Arts etc... that you speak of?
