Not worth worrying about for another few years, but I think both Villar and Correa could handle 3B defensively. This would be a good problem to have though. See Rangers - Andrus & Profar.

A lot of scouts ive read project Bryant as a corner OF.

The only thing that would stop the Astros from drafting Bryant is if they see Appel or Gray as a future ace.. Or Luhnow & Co. see something special in Frazier, Meadows, etc.. My opinion is that you don't draft for need in baseball like you would in football or basketball. BPA is the way to go - though right now in the Astros case BPA may mean Best Package of high end talent Available for the cost of Mark Appel.

Correa's long term value is at SS. If Villar has established himself as an everyday all star level SS by the time Correa is ready for the show, then one of them will be the centerpiece of a blockbuster trade. Your hypothetical situation is of course assuming that both Correa and Villar develop into stars, which I feel is unlikely.

    I could live with
    1b singleton
    2b deshields
    Ss villar
    3b correa
    Lf kris Bryant
    Cf springer
    Rf Santana
    C Castro
    Dh Altuve

Like the others have said , having multiple prospects pan out is the best case scenario .. You either find a spot for both on the field or make a trade .

    Tuesday Stories

A normally potent tandem gets roughed up in Corpus.

Could OKC salvage a game against Salt Lake?

A tough May gets tougher for Vince Velasquez.

    Recap

Oklahoma City 3, Salt Lake 2

The Redhawks walked off with a win as Austin Wates delivered a 2-out single with the bases loaded. Jason Jaramillo opened the scoring with an RBI triple in the bottom of the 3rd that scored Wates. Marc Krauss scored on a wild pitch in the 7th to tie the game at 2. Che-Hsuan Lin went 2-3 with a triple in the 5th, but he was stranded there.

Asher Wojciechowski went 5 2/3 innings and allowed a run on 3 hits, walked 4, and struck out 3. Jason Stoffel got the final out of the 6th and the first out of the 7th via strikeout. He also walked Luke Carlin to lead off the 7th, and Carlin would score on a double by Scott Cousins. Kevin Chapman went an inning (final 2 outs of the 8th, first out of the 9th) and allowed a hit, walked 1, and fanned 2. Jose Valdez walked 1 and struck out 1 in 1 2/3 innings.

The Redhawks will have today off, then they'll hit the road for a West Coast roadtrip. First up: 4 in Sacramento on Thursday.

San Antonio 11, Corpus Christi 5

The normally stout pairing of Bobby Doran and Nick Tropeano got roughed up by the Missions. Doran took his first loss of the season, as he only lasted 2 1/3 innings. He allowed 6 runs (4 earned) on 7 hits (2-run homer), walked 1, and struck out 3. Pat Urckfitz went 1 2/3 and allowed 2 runs on 3 hits. Tropeano went 3 innings and allowed 3 runs on 4 hits (2-run homer), walked 3, and struck out 2. Jorge De Leon struck out 1 in a 1-2-3 8th, and Kenny Long walked 1 and struck out 1 in the 9th.

Offensively, everyone had a hit. Unfortunately, the Hooks were outgunned by San Antonio. 5 guys each had an RBI. George Springer was 3-5 and legged out an RBI infield single in the 5th. Erik Castro was 2-4; his came on a groundout in the 4th. Max Stassi's was a single in the 4th, while Domingo Santana cracked a double in the 5th. Jonathan Meyer rounded it out with a groundout in the 5th to follow Santana.

On another note... I'm not sure if Domingo Santana's 3rd home run on Friday ever landed.

Mike Foltynewicz and David Martinez will face Matt Andriese in Game 3 of the series. First pitch is at 7:05.

    Lancaster was off

The Jethawks will begin a 3-game series in Visalia, with the first game being this afternoon at 3:30 Pacific. The Jethawks' starters are TBD, but I believe that Chris Devenski and Brady Rodgers will be the pairing. They will take on Keith Hessler.

    Wisconsin 9, Quad Cities 7

The River Bandits squandered a 7-4 lead as the Timber Rattlers got 4 in the 7th to take the lead and one more in the 8th for the final score.

Jamaine Cotton went 5 innings and allowed 4 runs (2 earned) on 5 hits (2-run homer) and walked 1. Vince Velasquez didn't fare too well, as he only lasted 1 2/3. He allowed 4 runs on 5 hits (4 singles and a 2-run homer) and walked 2. His ERA has jumped from 2.45 to 4.75 this month. Richard Rodriguez, in his season debut, allowed a run on a hit (not a homer), walked 1, and struck out 1 in 1 1/3.

Terrell Joyce hit a 2-run double in the 2nd. Jesse Wierzbicki went 2-4 with a bases-loaded walk in the 2nd and an RBI double in the 4th. And Rio Ruiz hit an RBI single in the 2nd. Carlos Correa went 2-5 and scored 3 times. Brian Blasik was 3-4 with a double and a run scored.

Ariel Ovando went 0-4 with a hat trick to drop his triple slash line to .153/.260/.213. Think he's overmatched at this level?

The middle game of the series pits Lance McCullers and Dan Minor against Leonard Lorenzo and Damien Magnifico. First pitch will be at 6:35.

    Super 2

Q: When does a player become eligible for salary arbitration?

A: A player with three or more years of service, but less than six years, may file for salary arbitration. In addition, a player can be classified as a "Super Two" and be eligible for arbitration with less than three years of service. A player with at least two but less than three years of Major League service shall be eligible for salary arbitration if he has accumulated at least 86 days of service during the immediately preceding season and he ranks in the top 22 percent (increased from 17 percent in previous agreements) in total service in the class of Players who have at least two but less than three years of Major League service, however accumulated, but with at least 86 days of service accumulated during the immediately preceding season.

If Carlos reaches his potential, the Astros trade Villar. That is unless Villar puts up ARod/Jetter numbers which is not likely.

There is no consensus on Bryant's MLB position. He played SS in HS and third base in college. It is not a stretch to project him to be a MLB third baseman.

A lot of people said Correa couldn't stay at SS.

Those same people would have been saying guys like Ripken & ARod couldn't stay at SS.

I think Bryant will be moved off 3B, but that is just a guess.

Why couldn't Villar be a bench guy?

When do the Astros call up Wojo? His era is now 1.15 at AAA

Wojo just got to OKC, and he's only thrown 15.2 innings there. He should stay there until July rolls around.

A commenter from TCB's minor league recap raises the question: When should the tandem system in Corpus end?

@anthonyboyertcb Which five? Folty, NiTro, Buchanan, Doran and Martinez? We've got a problem... Lance McCullers has left the game, only lasting an inning. He allowed a 2-out double and walked 1 in a scoreless 1st.

If you have the Corpus box score up, you may notice that George Springer is not playing. Why, you ask? Well...

The word about George Springer being out tonight for #cchooks is it's apparently related to illness.
— Greg Rajan (@GregRajan) May 16, 2013
