BimaThug: It's not who he is under the moniker, but what he does that defines him

Considering we are now entering one of the most important off-seasons for the Rockets since 2001 during the non-courting of Chris Webber, and since Derek F*ing Fisher got an appreciation thread, it's absolutely time to give our own resident Cap Guru Mr. David Weiner his due, after he corrects the Cap Czar Larry Coon.

It's one thing to destroy "Multiple Sources" Chris Broussard, but Bima just did the equivalent of telling Neil Degrasse Tyson he counted light years incorrectly...

Total Kudos to Larry Coon for crediting his sources, unlike a certain hack newspaper...

Thanks for everything, Bima. Being able to EXCLUSIVELY report that Chandler Parsons has a 4th year team option, something that the Boston/New York/Los Angleles worshipping worldwide leader has STILL yet to acknowledge is a true cap in your feather.

Now would you kindly tell Larry Coon that waiving Chandler Parsons while still paying his $600,000 guarantee for 2013-2014 would actually cost the Rockets $163,680 in cap room next year, if I've done my math correctly, and he should update his future projections?

I'm sure Bima feels good too. Coon is sort of his capologist idol.

Larry Coon has been wrong a number of times about the Rockets' cap situation. Nice work Bima, in any case.

Coon certainly writes the most informative website on the CBA but has got the Rockets situation wrong a couple of times. Great work Bima. And nice of Larry to credit you!!!

Thanks for the kind words, guys!

Larry Coon is definitely someone to whom I look up, so it was very gratifying when he credited me with alerting him to an error in his cap calculations. Hell, if you're writing about the cap THAT much, you're bound to make some inadvertant mistakes every now and then. The same is true with covering EVERY team's cap situation as Larry does, as opposed to someone like me, who is intently focused on only one team. I've made a few cap errors on this BBS over the years and have tried to be gracious when others (respectfully) point them out to me. (Thank you, aelliott, NIKEstrad, CH, HMMMHMM, Hi Mana, basketballholic, among others).

Much like Larry Coon, I'm first and foremost about educating people here about cap issues. I've been very pleased at how much smarter this BBS has gotten over the years in this area. It's a real testament to Clutch and to all the other posters who help educate others without intimidating them and scaring them off.

I love the thomas robinson for Gasol Trade....

It will guarantee another year of playoff experience and perhaps a birth into the second round... I think we will be top 3 in West maybe even make the conference finals

and once the year ends Gasol's 20 Million will come off the books
    with

    LBJ
    D.Wade
    Chris Bosh
    Carmelo Anthony
    Demarcus Cousins

    All free agents

To me we go for broke with Dwight and if he doesnt sign we go Gasol and wait till next offseason

Bima, thank you very much for taking the time to explain to us fans the intricacies of the Rockets' cap situation. You make it very easy to understand.

Hey, now that Sam Hinkie is with the Sixers, maybe Morey will try to recruit you for the Front Office ...

If LAL get CP3, then that means Steve Nash walks. Maybe we can get him to mentor our PGs. Hope he's willing to get a pay cut. Gasol and Nash

His contract doesn't expire for two more years @9.5m a year.
He wants to stay LA because of his family. Doubt he'll come to Houston.

I never thought about CP3 going to LAL , but I think that is a possibility if Gasol is shipped out and you are correct in your statement about Nash.....He would be a great 1B option behind Lin. Could be a mentor to Lin and groom him into a better PG.

But a CP3 / Howard combination in Laker Land might just happen.....They wanted to play together anyways and once Gasol is gone this may be what keeps Howard in LA.......Makes you question if you want to persue Gasol knowing this could be the outcome.

    Erm, 'cuse me.

How do the Lakers get Howard and CP3? Isn't that impossible? They are way over the cap.

Indeed. An odd moniker but a serious contributer. Thanks, Bima.
