Pacers have Hibbert why would they trade for Asik? And why would we trade Asik for a position that isn't really a need. Do some of you think out trades before you click send?
That's the reason you get Granger. He is a major upgrade over Delfino and makes playing small ball a real advantage for us. This season we played decent small at times but Delfino sucked on the defensive end. Granger is better than Delfino on the both sides of the court, much better on the defensive side. He can actually guard Lebron (relatively speaking). People don't get that but we are much better if we could plug in Granger instead of Delfino when we go small. If you believe running small ball is an integral part of our offense and not just a gimmick (and Morey does) than upgrading Delfino is important. Granger is a major upgrade.
I agree Pacers don't need Hibbert but they also can't afford Granger. it would most likely be a 3 team deal if something like this went down. The deal would only need to be Asik and Royce white to work.
As I indicated you may need to throw in a T-Rob or a third team to get the Pacers to bite and for us it's ridding ourselves of Lin's and Asik's contract a year early to go after a 2014 FA. It's not about trading for a need it's essentially a salary dump with the potential that Granger could bounce back and then flip him or cut him loose. The point is if Howard signs you need to trade Asik but Morey may not want to trade him for a similar contract that would prevent him from forming a big 3. Thus Granger provides the answer.
Yeah that would be the only way. The only way Asik isn't a Houston Rocket next year is if Dwight Howard is brought in.
Stevenson is nice and all, but I'd expect unless someone offers something too good to be true for Granger, that they'll probably try him and George together now that George has had his breakout. Watching that team, the one thing they miss is a good shooter, that he's also athletic and a good defender is a plus, he doesn't need to cover the best wing. Granger's deal expires when George comes off his rookie contract, so they might even be able to get a discount, they want to retain West and they're really not that close to the luxury threshold.
What makes you believe that Granger has more value than Asik, even if he proved to be healthy for half a season? I get the salary clearing move, but if the intention is just to move Granger, I'd rather keep Asik, Lin, and TRob as the pieces to move to get that 4.
Something to think about. I know Granger is injury prone and this board loves parsons, but he will never be as good as granger.
I don't anticipate trading Granger for a #3 star in this scenario, but all star Danny Granger is worth more than Lin, Asik, and T-rob. Any NBA fan knows that in a 2 or 3 for one deal the quality is worth more than the quantity. That being said as I've repeated several times it's not likely you can deal Lin and Asik for a star and the only way to get one is to clear out their salaries. This is one way it could work.
If they do trade Granger, it'd most likely be near the deadline, not in the offseason, With both Hibbert and George's improvements, I can't imagine their gm doesn't want to see what adding such a quality outside shooter can do, especially to a team that's biggest problem seems to be shooting.
If they picked up Tyreke he would automatically be the best point guard on the team which means he probably wouldn't be a back up.
i wouldnt be opposed to it ONLY if we get dwight. but morey should consider other options i think the pacers are more likely to to take a risk on granger's health and keep, him, than re-signing david west casue of his age. they'd have a better shot at beating the heat next season if they had granger at pf than west. the way the league is trending a hibbert/george/granger frontcourt is perfect.
Granger is old and busted. Nope. Btw does anyone know what the exact surgical procedure was on his knee?
Do you even know what chucker means? A player with a career 56.3 TS% is a chucker now? Derp.... That being said I don't see the point at all. The Rockets already have an SF. We need a PF.
Yay Small Ball!! -Seriously though, not so sure what kind of health issues he's going to have in the next 6 months to a year with all the complications he's had this past season. If your getting him for a bag of peanuts, and there is nothing else out there than sure... but Im pretty sure you get find a better fit out there for what this team needs down on the block. Just realize that if they brought in Granger, lets say for a bag of rocks, this team will be playing small ball with Parsons or Granger at the 4 primarily. Still, there would be some games where all cylinders are on fire and they drop 130+ with that lineup... Then some games where they get beat by 40.
Granger is solid. Y'all don't know basketball outside of the Rockets. I remember when everybody on this board was against getting Zach Randolph because he was an alleged "chucker" and troublemaker lol. Now he's beastin
I would maybe look into him if he was younger but the dude is 30 coming off knee surgery and has a pretty big contract. Not worth it.
