So we cut Humber with good reason, and we sign Edgar Gonzalez, no need for words just look at the numbers for yourself. http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/g/gonzaed01.shtml Jose Valdez, Jason Stoffel, and Kevin Chapman all deserve a look, and they pull this crap. The Astros must be tanking for real, that's the only excuse.
True, but Mr. Doubleday himself couldn't win with this group. It's not just that we are 30th in baseball in ERA, we are almost a full run worse than 29th, that can't be on Porter. Lou Brown is the only one I could think of that could win with this group
I'd like to see him at least know the basic rules. Regardless of the umpire's subsequent screw up, Porter should have never made that Wright/Ambriz move to begin with.
I would agree, but, if they were really trying to lose there would certainly be no reason to get rid of Humber, he was doing an outstanding job of helping us lose
I don't know exactly how the rules work, but I would assume they won't bring up the young guys if it starts their clock towards arbitration a year early? Especially anyone who they think has long term star potential
Astros got quite a bit to do before they can compete in the division. They need prospects to pan out a good free agent signing or two. Ill give them 3 to 5 years assuming things pan out.
Astros are going to have to be very careful from here on out so folks don't get the perception that they are intentionally trying to get the #1 pick.
lol doesnt matter what manager you put out there, this team outside of Altuve is not major league material
Our pitching this year has been unsustainably bad, the quartet of Bedard,Peacock, Lyles and Humber have a combined ERA of about 9.00. Not saying we have cy young winners, but the performance is bound to level off. Plus we have played a tough schedule, 17 of our 38 games against the 4 best teams in the AL. We're 7-5 against sub-.500 teams. We'll probably lose 100 games again, but we aren't 120 losses bad.
