You might not even see D-Mo at all. Its the comfort foods theory. McHale could very well have stayed with the big rotation of Asik, Patterson, Smith, small ball to stay within a comfort zone with the players he knew he could trust.

As a GM you have to be able to take away the comfort foods if you want a young team like this to grow properly. Patterson was about as comfortable a player as your going to find up there with a guy like Battier. Like Battier, Patterson is better suited to play a role on a veteran team like say the Knicks or Nets.... unfortunately for him, he ended up with the complete opposite team that he needed to be with.

Robinson is looking viscous good out there tonight, especially on defense.

That activity, shot blocking -- not looking anything like Jordan Hill tonight.

D'Mo caused Rockets to fall behind double digits to Mavs.

It's amazing when you look at where he came from in the first game until now, what his 4th game?

As was said, dude's a hard worker and I wouldn't be surprised if these immediate results are his reward.

Now if the team would stop completely ignoring him on offense...It seems like whenever he gets just a little involved he starts to just fly every where. There are so many times when he cuts though and whether it's Lin, Beverly, Harden, whoever...they will just ignore him. Hopefully it's because he's still so new to the team they are trying to get used to him. But he has finished well around the rim.

I was skeptical about Robinson when we made this trade. I'm more skeptical now. I would welcome some well thought out opinions that are positive about Robinson to ease my mind.

Right now I feel like the trade was saved because we got Garcia who was amazing in the playoffs. But there was a lot of hype around Robinson. He was the main piece we were trading for at the time. Is there still hope for him?

Garcia was the only reason this trade was good.

Probably could have gotten Garcia without giving up anyone or maybe just an end of bench guy. Kings just wanted to dump his salary.

Everyone knew he was a project. Give him a summer to improve.

Think about Sanders and his first two years. Skills and experience can be gained, but physical talent is the foundation of most stars. At least Trob still has pretty good trade value with his untapped potential, especially after just one year.

If Spurs can't find takers for Blair, very few would take Ppat with his upcoming free agency and postponed foot surgery on the horizon.

Will probably be a bonus piece in a trade package.

I said it in another thread, but Morey can find guys like PPat in free agency. He admitted at the time the trade would make it more difficult to win short term.

The question is how did we benefit long term? The trade was basically a wash cap wise.

All depends on if/how much Robinson improves this summer

It's a typical Morey move, low risk high reward. If Robinson pans out, awesome- the trade's a steal. If not, all we gave up was a rotational player we can easily replace.

Sanders had low offensive efficiency because he shot too many jumpers, that he could not hit. He actually hit a decent % on shots around the rim. Robinson has low offensive efficiency because he shoots a low % on shots near the basket as well as on jumpers.

Sanders is 6'10.5'', with 9'4'' standing reach, and filled out his once too-skinny frame a bit, like most NBA players do. Robinson is 6'8.75'', with 8'10'' standing reach, and is is not likely to grow taller or increase his standing reach.

Blair does not have any ACLs. Patterson does. The Rockets will have a hard time finding a taker for Thomas Robinson, at least one that is willing to pay significant value for him.

It is indeed a typical Morey move. But exactly what high reward has Morey gained from other teams' unwanted lotto picks?

Well, if you want a stretch 4 who is good enough on defense, I disagree that they are so easily found in free agency. I'd love to be proven wrong though. Please name some names.

I thought we saved a couple million, which could be potentially a huge deal this summer.

This makes no sense. You say TRob has all this trade value, but then you say PPat had no trade value. Yet......the best trade Sacramento could get for TRob was PPat????

I don't see how TRob could have any trade value. Our PF position was as wide open as any team's in the league, and TRob couldn't even get time in GARBAGE TIME!!!!

The Morris-for-2nd-round-pick deal saved cap room. However, the other trade actually decreased cap room by round $500K given that Patterson costs $3.1M and Robinson costs $3.5M and Honeycut is guaranteed $100K when waived (none of the other guys have guaranteed deals).
