Yeah... I mean the months of non stop coverage that Sandusky got and the numerous political sex scandals NEVER got any attention..
Well, I think the "down low" hysteria has less to do with homosexuals and more to do with a lack of understanding of homosexuality by black people. Black people seem to have an issue with the fact that a)there are gay black men that aren't flamboyant or easily "detectable" (just like any other race) and b)there are gay black men that are "in the closet" (just like any other race). I guess you can't actually blame the average white american for taking what he sees on Oprah as the gospel. How else is he going to find out about black culture? And, it is absolutely true that there are gay thugs/entertainers/athletes/whatever that are closeted. It's just not specific to blacks. The one thing that is specific to blacks is the near comical shock (mostly from other blacks) that a relatively masculine black man is gay. In reality, I think down low was started as a simple slang term for something that has existed for a long time in every other culture, like bling bling or swag, except more gay.
