Again why are we giving up Lin As in how does it benefit us? Maybe you've forgotten we're in a competition where the goal is to beat the other 29 teams.
The Rockets are Harden, Parsons and 13 Assets. And Parsons only because his salary/performance ratio is so massively skewed for the team. They are good assets and we are happy to have them, but Morey would deal any one of them in a heartbeat. I actually think Asik would be the third most valuable over Lin and would only ever be traded for an upgrade at C.
Does this mean Parsons will probably walk when it comes to a new contract? but he's so hot, that Parsons.
I think he might want to know if Parsons will agree to stay on for the indefinite future. Parsons is harder to replace, there are others with his skillset, but there are very few who are as good (Parsons 50% on corner 3's is just ridiculous, an offense that can open that up would be monstrous), and getting them even harder. I've seen people from other teams rate him in the top 5 sf's (they consider lebron and melo as pfs now btw), which actually surprised me how highly he's rated.
If we sign three max deals... Howard, Harden, J.Smith, I think its going to be difficult to keep Parsons in two years. Milk him for what its worth now!
Damn, they are going HARD after this guy. No one can resist Parsons. Harden's beard will talk as well.
Any possible way to keep Osik? Gahhhh either way I'm not looking forward to constant end of game free throws if he does come to Houston. I'd rather keep Asik and see what other deals creep up. It's still hard to believe we have a #5 overall pick to develop also.
It depends on 2 things, 1) How much Les is willing to spend, he'd probably be willing to go up to ~10m range on luxury tax, so be paying about 17.5m tax, Les has always said he's willing to pay the luxury tax for a contender, just won't pay it for a non contender, which is fair enough. (Of note here, a Dwight/Smith signature would probably expedite the CSN broadcaster licensing issues) 2) we can probably make a deal with Parsons to decline his final year to get a discount on a 4 year deal to give him proper guaranteed money, but essentially giving him a return of say $5.225m in that 4th year (Arenas rule i think caps this) rather than the 900k he's owed, Morey did say Parsons asked if he could have some sort of renegotiate like that, also because Parsons isn't a max guy, i believe we could structure his contract to be front loaded from his 5th year, to get him money earlier, and help the escalating contracts of the other guys. 3) I would guess if Howard is including him in the meeting, that Howard's head has the idea if he signs with Houston, that he wants Parsons staying.
Actually I think i was wrong about that, we could pay all the way up to the max for his 4th year with his bird rights.
So just because the Lakers may have interest in a player who probably won't be a Rocket next year anyway (which sucks), we should give up assets for a player we could almost just as easily sign? Nonsense level is high in this one...
Thanks for the reply as always Aleron. We'll see if Harden and Parsons meet with Dwight. I'm highly sceptical. Why would Dwight meet with them... cause more drama? Aren't the rockets getting awfully close to tampering? FA doesn't start til July 1st.
OK, I understand that. But what game is Dwight playing at by going out to dinner with Harden and Parsons? Seriously, they should make a reality show or something. If its true. Lakers will interpret this as Dwight already making up his mind. That or a complete lake of commitment to resign. Either way, after this, the lakers probably wouldn't want him anymore.
I don't know, I might just do it so we can all say we traded Francisco Garcia for Dwight Howard straight up. That'd look pretty good of Morey's resume.
Yeah, it won't stop if he joins the Rockets either. Most people see the drama as worth it, and I guess it could be if he can get truly healthy again.
