T-Mac was far more experienced and just came off of 2 straight scoring titles. He was in the Durant Lebron cat. when we got him. I don't think its even close.

Harden trying his best on both ends can only hope to be as good as tmac was. Would you say harden is better than kobe or dwade in their prime or durant melo or lebron? Well, tmac was arguably better than most of those players when he decided to show up and try.

Not that great tbh, this was the year I thought we should have traded him. He looked noticeably different from 05 and even when he was injured in 06

This was one of the best games I've ever seen him play. You could tell how bad he wanted to win.

Maybe if Mac went to college he would have created his game a bit different and wouldn't have become irrelevent so fast.

I still get chills every time I watch the TMac 13 points in 33 seconds video.

Love Harden but McGrady's physical tools and style of play exceeded what Harden has shown and made him a better player. Maybe if his field goals percentage improved and his turnovers dropped but Harden has ways to go in development of his game to reach McGrady in his prime as a Rocket.

Harden averaged 11 FT attempts a game in the playoff's..That is not to bad. IMO what hurt him was the grueling 78 games playing dam near 40 minutes a game. In the playoff's dude didnt have any legs. Look at how his shooting %, free throw % and three point % dropped. Plus he was sick in the last two games.

oo t-mac and yao era never really got the chance it deserved! When we got T-Mac we kind of had a thin roster, scott padgett... Then when we had a deep roster both tmac and yao got injured all the time : (

Even Tinman would say say T-mac was better.

Unless you're blinded by blatant hate the answer is clearly T-mac as big of an escape goat as he was.

tmac had more talent (and its not even close) but james has more work ethic IMO so i think he'll have the better career when its all said and done

It's only one year for harden. Not fair of a comparison, i'd give harden 3 years before this thread should be created.

Tmac came in as a multiple scoring champion.

Harden was a geeat sixth man coming in.

I'm glad harden didn't have a obnoxious cult following though.

Harden was more efficient. It's hard to say better...Tmac might be able to do harder things like shooting some random crazy shots, but Harden has scored more this year than Tmac at his best for us while being much more efficient.

True, but I noticed several time that he drove to the lane that he didn't get the call and he started shooting more jumpers.
My main point though was that he seems to rely on getting that call and throwing up his hands rather than using his strength to get the ball in the hole.

I have already posted their shooting percentages. They both shot 43% and scored 25 points a game in their 1st season as a Rocket.

Wait, is this Orlando T-Mac or Houston T-Mac? Houston T-Mac vs Harden this year IMO is only slightly favorable for T_Mac. McGrady was better on defense, but his inability to get to the rim by that point was already an issue. He had a sweet jumper, but his love of 20 footers at a fairly low rate was not exactly the best offensive game plan.

But would still rate T-Mac higher because he was the only shot creator in JVG's horrendously slow system. Therefore his ability to shoot, even if they were horrible 20 footers, was probably more valuable than Harden in this open system.
