this thread turned to **** really ****ign quick, my apologies if i contributed to the ****tyness of this thread
You're being way too accomodating! Book readers did the same thing in previous seasons even when separate threads were created for the books. Instead of exiling yourself across the Narrow Sea to the free cities, the book readers should be more considerate and go talk about the book in the book thread. This thread is for season 3 of a TV show. I'm a casual viewer, so all that stuff about Bolton and his sigil as clues are over the top CSI stuff. Book readers who spoil = Theon
Is there something wrong with me? I couldn't get into the books. I should have read the books first then watched the series instead of the other way around. ok back on topic, just when I think joffrey can't be any more of a little b, he manages to top it. dude needs to get got already.
i just wanted to say RIP to this thread, it had some good stuff and some dumb stuff, a true reflection of the bbs
Game of Thrones Character Was Fastest-Rising Baby Name in 2012 http://www.wired.com/underwire/2013/05/arya-popular-baby-name/
That's pretty cool. There are a lot of pretty awesome names in this series, come to think of it. Arya is definitely the best girl's name. I also think Bronn, Jorah, and Gendry are great guy names.
Joffery/Tywin scene was outstanding. So was the scene with Danny and the Yunkai leader. Daenarys has become a true bad ass.
Good episode. It's a damn that shame they keep wasting time showing Theon get tortured. Do not care. Use the finite episode time featuring all of the other characters
I liked the episode but the whole season has been slow as molasses. Danerys and Jamie stories have advanced the most and been most interesting. Jon snows storyline remains intriguing. They've managed to make everyone else, even previously great characters, snooze inducing. I understand part of that is the books. Though I didn't read them. Didn't they split a book into two seasons? I don't think that was necessary. I know the seasons end much faster then they start but it's an awful long time to wait in between seasons to be slow slow slow slow.... Two great episodes... Wait another year Just my opinion as a fan who didn't read the books
This season is book 3 part 1, season 4 will be book 3 part 2. And yeah, it was definitely necessary. Book 3 is almost universally considered the height of the series, and there's just too much great stuff happening to stuff it all into 10 episodes.
Don't want to turn this into a book discussion again, but once watchers see what the climax of this season is, they'll understand why the producers didn't want to continue (much) past it this season and move on to the next big climax (at the end of the book). If they did the whole book as one season, it would put this moment around episode 6 which would kind of dilute its impact.
As a reader I find myself unable to properly assessed some of the episodes as individual episodes, but I do somewhat agree with your complaints of slowness. I think the major reason for that is the focus and inclusion of so many incremental stories and characters each episode. Perhaps if instead of have 5-10 minutes of John snow or Bran or Rob or Arya (the story's imo moving the slowest) in 8 episodes out of 10 they should instead have 10-20 minutes of john or bran etc in 4 or 5 episodes out of 10. In other words I wonder if instead of having bran in this episode they simply cut his part and put it with the earlier episodes he was part of. Or simply that Johns enitre climbing the wall part last week was combined with tonights episode. Perhaps that way, each episode would have less divergent stories and characters while having more plot movement. BTW i thought this was a good episode, whereas last week was ok and the two previous week GREAT.
I guess I don't really understand the slowness complaints. I mean, if you feel like the overall story line isn't progressing fast enough, I guess you could call the show slow. But to me that doesn't really matter because I enjoy the hell out of every minute of every episode (except the scenes between Tyrion and Shae...can't stand the actress that plays Shae). So is there a complaint that a scene between Tyrion and Bronn discussing that Tyrion doesn't really want to marry Sansa really all that important in the long run? Hell no, but I could watch an entire spinoff series of Tyrion and Bronn bantering back and forth...so I don't really care if it advances the series. To me, this is the most interesting and entertaining series on TV and I'm perfectly fine with the pace they have set.
