It isn't a dumb post. The fact that Phil recently coached the Lakers and they were swept helps support the contention that the Lakers are on the decline.

I didn't say HE was a recipe for disaster, I said the current Lakers lineup and situation is a recipe for disaster.

    these responses are comical.

I'm sorry if I stated the facts.

my friend the Laker fan looked me in the face and told me the Lakers didn't get swept under Jackson in 2011.

let's not even talk about how he handled all those egos in 2004 and lost to the Pistons 4-1 with Malone, Payton, Kobe, and Shaq.

yeah Chief Triangle will solve everything in La La Land.

and my post is the dumb one.

Mike D'Antoni is next year's coach for the Los Angeles Lakers.

he doesn't close on a home, get fired and take on a scouting position

We don't believe you you need more people

Tis is from the LA times when they hired Pringles. "Slimey". Yeah I think the bridge is burned and only a giant sack of money a Lakers stake could rep are that.

Since then Dr. Jerry Buss has died and Jackson has become engaged with Dr. Buss' daughter. Two huge matters

Getting swept in the 1st round is 'rock bottom' to Lakers fans?

    Man, you guys are spoiled.

    try 6 years after.

lost in 6 in the 2nd round in 03 under Jackson

lost in 5 in the Finals in 04 under Jackson

I would definitely call their period from 05-07 rock bottom. that included missing the playoffs in '05 under Rudy T and Hamblen,

lost in 7 in first round in '06 under Jackson (after leading series 3-1)

lost in 5 in first round in '07 under Jackson

give Phil Jackson some f#*king credit. he got that team two more titles.

I agree for single comments and links and such. I have no problem with twitter in general.

But, posting articles get linked, too, and shared. So, that's effective as well, and it lasts longer. Twitter for long articles in not more effective. Blogs are more effective for paragraphs and such. It's just plain weird to write 50 sentences in single sentence tweets rather than posting complete paragraphs on your website/blog.

The only effectiveness of it vs blogs is if he already has many blog followers and he's trying to build up his twitter account.

I hate how some media people use twitter.

Jackson was willing to coach this year but got passed over by Jim Buss. If he was willing to coach this year, I don't know why he wouldn't be willing to coach the next year. Kupchak even said with the roster they put together they'd only have a 2 year window to get a ring before they'd have to blow up the team.

I don't see how losing in the finals or getting swept one season disqualifies the coaching ability of a guy who's right next to Red Auerbach. Especially when you're advocating in his place a coach who also just got swept and who couldn't even handle one ego (Melo) and quit his job halfway through the season because of it.

Triangle won't solve everything, but it be using the personnel a lot better than how these coaches have been using them. How you like one of the best pnr decision makers in history being used as a spot up 2? Kobe playing 48 mins a game? Pau camping the 3 point line? 8-15 only being played when someone's injured, after which they've been cold for 2 months and don't feel like part of the team anymore. Or under Mike Brown, Nash handing the ball off at the wing and then cutting through the paint to sit in the corner. Bynum posting up on a triple team as the first and only option. Slashers being told not to slash and to just hang out in the corner.

What happened to Mike Brown after he was fired? He was still on contract so he ended up being a $4 million/year "scout" that did nothing. That 6 million home means nothing when it comes to D'Antoni securing his coaching job. Not when he'll be getting paid even if he gets fired. Not when Mike Brown getting hired by the Cavs means his $4 million/year "scouting" salary is now off the books and there's room for another if needed.

I'm not advocating for D'Antoni or saying he is a better coach for the job, I am saying that I believe he will remain in the position for the next season, regardless of what Lakers fans wish for.

anything short of a championship run is a failure for the Lakers organization and their fans. I give them credit for holding such a high standard.

I'm just showing that Jackson has failed, as many NBA Coaches do, many times since 2002. I pointed out multiple first round losses, second round beatdowns and sweeps, and disappointing losses in the Finals.

that was a decade ago. their last Championship run began half a decade ago.

Phil Jackson cannot save this franchise.

Woop di do, 2 yrs difference who cares. Lol how many teams have competed for 3 straight titles since MJ left? Only them two

A team that hasn't even been to an NBA finals has no room to talk. None. Zero. Laughable

Dr. Buss hasn't had a say in the team in 2-3 years. His death doesn't effect the choices of his son who's been trying to get away from the way his dad did things (ie. D'Antoni, Mike Brown). He's even told Pringles he's safe that's why he fired his assistants and will hire defensive coaches.

Phil has been with Jeanie Buss going on 8 years
