This argument is very specious. No need to get emotional about it cause it ain't ever going to happen and is far far removed from reality. You can't just void contracts. Let people dwell in their hate and fantasise.
SMH @ 94 lin votes... SMH even more with the arguments of lin voters... Lin voters: lin is not worth the contract Others: pulls up season numbers Lin voters: but lin sucked so much at the playoffs and playoffs is all that matters. Others: 1 game.... smh....
Lin is not the best point guard since a young Francis... Lowry and Dragic were better and Brooks is debatable (I prefer Lin). Lin isn't really over paid, but if I can get Josh Smith for $12,000,000 a year I would dump Lin and Robinson.
Lin probably made the Rockets organization 2 times more money in marketing $$ (China) than how much he gets paid. Poor kid.
The reason the hypothetical was phrased that way is because the question is not "Who is the most overpaid Rocket?" We all know that is Royce White. The question is which contract hurts us the most (i.e. which one would you throw out if you could)? Which contract most inhibits us from improving the team? That is not so clear cut.
That's an interesting angle. I'm sure other teams know how much money lin can make them, especially someone like the Lakers. Everyone says Lin's trade value is low, but this might in fact make Lin's trade value extremely high. Isn't basketball the No.1 sport in China? Don't they have like 2 billion kids? What about the rest of Asia, I think its a pretty populous continent. If the Rockets could somehow get each kid in Asia to spend $1 (I know jerseys are a lot more) that's $2 billion dollars. How about Chinese TV rights... a few million? I'm admit I have completely no idea as to the extent of the numbers. Pure conjecture and speculation on my part. Anyone with inside information? ...anyways, this could make Lin's trade value very high?!
Do I think the Rockets can get anyone equal or better than Jeremy Lin for 8 mil a year? Probably. Is it worth the hassle? Probably not...
You know what, I care a ton more about a worthless human like Royce getting millions for nothing than I do about any bad contract. We could literally have any bad contract in the NBA and I'd rather take money from Royce than lose it. Gerald Wallace, Amar'e, Boozer, Beasley, whatever. It's just a guy getting paid too much to play basketball. Better than a guy getting paid to embarrass the team and refuse to play basketball.
Really I'm happy with all our contracts. Royce is worth pretty much no money, and there is still a small chance he can get his head out of his ass. Of course I voted for him though. Lin will play better next year, and if we decided he's not the player we want in the future I think a team with attendance problems would give us a nice chip for him. Our biggest problem is we have a million power forwards yet we have to start a sf at the position.
I don't think I need to nor do i have the time to go through 150+ and filter the people who voted lin for you... you can read through the whole thread...
