Can someone explain why barkley hates houston so much?

I will always like Barkley but damn it sucks he is such a Rocket Hater

Oh well, as far as T.V. goes we still got Kenny Smith, Jeff Van Gundy and Jon Barry... Banafide Rocket praisers

 

Maybe he's just cynical and critical of us because deep down he's a fan. It's better than a player gushing all over his former team.

 

and Houston has already won two titles...at his expense I might add.

 

I don't think he hates us. he's just stating some things a lot of people don't like hearing. Is it hate? No. The only real time I felt he was hating on us, was when we first drafted Yao. And he completely bashed our pick and had unwarranted issues with Yao. After he met him, and Yao lifted himself up to the best center in the league, it was all praise after that.

Also, we were never really his town. Philly and Phoenix were. Those were his teams. I remember a SLAM article back in 01 or 02, when Cuttino was talking about how much Barkley kept trying to school him his rookie year, on fast careers go. That Dr. J tried to school him the same way in Philly.

Chuck just didnt have that same attachment to us. Plus, Kenny almost always puts him in his place when they talk about our Chip.

He believes that he is owned money by the Rocket's organization; therefore, he always talks smack against the Rockets. Always.

 

It also extends to the players. He said the only reason Hakeem won was because MJ retired, and he ended up having to kiss a donkey's ass when he said Yao Ming would never score over 10 pts his entire career.

 

Didn't Barkley grab 33 rebounds in Phoenix in his second game as a Rocket? Yeah, he sure was past his prime.

 

I don't see what one has to do with the other. Are you trying to argue that Barkley wasn't past his prime when he got here?

Barkley's best years by far were as a Sixer.

 

Maybe so but he was still very effective.

 

He was scoring at an efficiency better than Kevin Durant, and he was a monster rebounder.

 

He finished one season #2 in rpg as a Rocket. I was impressed.

 

I think 2 reasons:
1) He got jacked from the FO on money "owed" to him. I think he had a gentleman's agreement that the FO reneged on. Sad really because he did them a huge favor coming over for 1 mill.
2) Hakeem never welcomed him in and tried as hard like he did for Clyde. When Clyde came aboard Hakeem was stoked and played extra hard to get him a ring too. Charles took a pay cut to chase a ring. Hakeem and Clyde both coasted when Charles got here IMO so he took a pay cut for nothing.
