Nate Robinson, Jarret Jack, Darren Collison all have similar numbers to Lin and they all have a lower cap figure than him. Plus lin will become untradeable after this year with the 15million 3rd year payment.
I don't think any team would have all their contracts be *bargain* contracts. This thread has "attemp to undermine" JLin written all over it. Otherwise, why not list more options, like Harden? Not saying Harden's contract is bad, just that this poll is very insincere. And put Lin who's a hardworking team player at the same level of this discussion as Royce is a slap in the face to Lin.
<br> Look at what the post I was replying to stated. He said "in the past" I realize Calderon is on a bad contract now. As is Lin. In the past Calderon was on an amazing contract and put up better numbers and fg% than Lin with less turnovers.
Not all bargains, that's why i said great (bargain) or short contracts. For example, Garcia wasn't a bargain contract for the most part, but he can be dropped because he has a short deal, or no deal, really. Maybe the OP was baiting, but it's still a fair question to ask and Lin is an obvious choice, for the reasoning Clutch provided, period. Clutch was referring to the thread he locked about this topic. You can see it midway through page 1 of the GARM. 3 people voted for Lin in that thread.
I think he simply ran out of gas by the end of the season, plus not accustomed to the playoffs intensity. Being the first full season playing as a starter, and not well conditioned in the off-season due to injury made JLin's stamina questionable. But his regular season numbers are worth the money he is paid. At this point, I think JLin deserve another year before people claim he sucks etc. A lot of guys improve their games the first couple years they play in the NBA, I don't think there is any reason why JLin would be different. If that happen, JLin's contract will be a value contract the next two years.
Being the first full season playing as a starter, and not well conditioned in the off-season due to injury made JLin's stamina questionable You do realize he played all 82 games right. And got better in the second half of the year.
Waiving Garcia is pointless. His contract is already coming off the books. No. It's not. If you don't see value in having $8.3 million off the books for a team with the ability to sign 1 max free agent then that's your problem. It makes sense because Lin's production can be easily replaced. I doubt the Rockets could trade Lin purely for cap space with his poor playoff performance. Other GMs don't want to hear excuses. I personally would have put Harden in for the lulz and to make the poll legit. Most Lin fans would have voted Harden.
He did play well in the second half. But I think the explanation to his poor performance in the last few game (at least last two I think) in the regular season and playoffs was because of him running of gas.
Among the players... Royce White. We have too many undersized PFs and based on what I've seen, White is a long term project that based on his mindset is unlikely to pan out. No team is likely to want to trade for him and he is unlikely to help the team so it is best we stop wasting the roster spot.
I don't know what are you referring to by "No, It's not", which point are you referring to? Regarding replacement being easy to find, I should say Morey has certainly tried over the years, I didn't see he came up with any elite point guard in past few years. Face it, Rockets is just not that attractive a team for most elite NBA players. Even in Harden's case, he was unproven but turn out to perform well, had he been a well established star player, chance is lower he would have been here this season. And I agree, adding Harden in the poll would at least appear more evenhanded.
Anyone that really holds his playoff performance as the standard is just a hater. The first game everyone played bad, second game he only played a half due to injury and the rest he tried to gut it out for the team. Dude was averageing 17 points and 7 assists in the last month before the playoffs. He didn't have elite numbers but he was just above average for the guard position in the regular season. He has work to do but it isn't like he can't play at all, the amount of hate he gets is just as ridiculous as the love non football people give for Tebow at times.
White, without a doubt. Jeremy wasn't great this year but he wasn't terrible either. I bet he will improve. White has no hope. He is done after his second year is up.
Actually Tebow gets a lot of hate too. I wonder sometimes if it's not for the same reason. For a while I was thinking because he's Asian and Yao got a lot of hate for no apparent reason. But more I am thinking because he is a good guy. He doesn't buck the system and puts God first and team second. It's ridiculous he gets 30% of the vote. If you take Royce White out of the poll, yeah that is okay. But the minute you put White on that poll any pick other than him is stupid. Yeah he might be overpaid for what he delivered but Trob is way overpaid for what he delivered. Yeah Trob is a rookie with upside. But for all intents and purposes this is Lin's rookie year. He too has mucho upside. And a better work ethic to tap into and already a history of stepping up more for New York. Where are you going to find a pg with all of that plays good d. Yes plays good d. I love Dragic but Lin played overall better than Goran. Okay you can debate that and I won't even argue with you because it is debatable. But Dragic signed a 4 year 30 million deal. Not that much difference over what Lin got. and the reality is Lin only got 5 mil this year.
See that's the biggest mistake you guys who dislike Lin make. He can not be easily replaced. He is the best pg we've had since the young Steve Francis and before that Sam Cassell. Morey said it very clearly, Lin is the third best player on the team in terms of producing wins. Better than Parsons. I do not know how he calculates that but it matches what I saw on the floor. Harden clearly was our MVP but Asik and Lin were the 2nd & 3rd most valuable. People look at the playoffs and say but what about that. Well Lin clearly had a bad game one. His shot was way off but so did everyone else. The whole team sucked. After that he had a decent first half and then he got injured. he was never the same. He shouldn't have played the next game. Had not Lin got injured I suspect he would have had a good playoff. But people can't see that and ignore how poorly Harden played in games 2 & three and really lost those 2 games for us. Even game 4 he doesn't get in foul trouble he was likely to continue his poor play. The thing is Harden learned from that and got better. Lin did too. I am all for trading Lin for a pg that helps us win more games. But who is that guy and how much more is he going to cost. Maybe Beverly steps up so much and overtakes Lin and sits him on the bench. Okay fine trade Lin. But Beverly is not there yet.Lin is still the starting pg for our team and rightfully so.
Tebow receives hate because he isn't a QB, but somehow has found a way to trick people into believing it. Not to mention his legion of fans who like Lin fans tend to over rate their favorite players abilities. That said tebow shouldn't be in the same sentence as Lin when it comes to actual talent in their sports. Both great human beings, but Lin can actually play.
The only way Tebow and Lin relate is the ESPN hype machine that overexposed them and both are devout Christians. Tebow was a first round pick, won the Heisman, and was a very well-known and respected college player. Lin's ascension couldn't be any different from Tebow's.
How much money does Lin bring back to the Rockets I guess is the question. None of these players need voiding. Royce is too cheap to even bother.
