in other words, you don't think we need a 17/7 pg next to harden, but can do with a 12/2 guy that makes 2 mil/yr. correct? if that's your point, i can respect that. don't agree, but i can respect that.

Gotta gotta go with Lin to make an all out run at Howard or CP3 and another solid starter.

Basically the pros outweigh the cons. If we strike out on both Dwight and CP3. We have the option to sign someone like Calderon and David West on short term contracts b4 we make another run at another star.

Lins contract will also be harder to trade than Asik. If we got rid of his contract all together, we could easily trade Asik and trob and make a run at both CP3 and Dwight. I dont see why they wouldn't wanna team up with Harden.

    LOL at "brainiacs"

If we get CP3, Harden will be the redundant one a la Team USA and best coming off the bench. Then we'll vote to void his max contract :p

I think the players association allowed one amnesty because of all the new CBA changes. They would never swing for this.

I like the idea of allowing one amnesty every 4 years and a no amnesty clause being part of every contract. I think this would help the NBA.

Royce doesn't even make that much money. There are better contracts than Jlin.

When did Lin average 17/7 for the year??? People keep bringing up these averages that Lin average for a "stretch" not for any long period of time. Okay, I'm through with this thread.

I voted for Lin not because I'm a LOH but because he won't be worth $25,000,000 over 3 years. And having 8.33 million dollars available = major flexibility. (No, I don't know who we'd replace him with.)

Royce White. Gawd, what a waste. Lying p.o.s. Pre-draft: "Sure, I'll work hard and overcome my anxiety issues." Post-draft: "Nobody's helping me, the Rockets are liars; hey, honey, why don't you slide out of them drawers, don't worry, I've had a vasectomy...."

Here's hoping Lin gets better and proves me wrong. The Beverly-Lin-Harden-Parsons-Asik lineup showed potential.

I wouldnt say clueless. I think Jeremy is better than Bev with a higher upside. The arguement is Bev + 7.5 million in cap space and who you would be able to aquire with that cap space and if that transaction would make the rockets as a team better than with Lin. For the record i want Lin to stay and start. The only way i would want Lin to leave or sit is if we can get Chris Paul which is highly unlikely.

I want to say Royce White, but like Morey said, he was the best player on the court that night against Kentucky and we have him currently on lock. Also, you just can't toss aside a player like Lin. Though Lin's contract......

I like Jeremy as maybe the back up point guard. I dislike his contract as the starter.

Morey has proven he can get ample production from his point guard for a lot less. See Brooks, Lowry & Dragic.

He is only worth that to the team because of advertising dollars. Otherwise, he's the worst contract at this time on the team--especially considering his predecessors.

It's too bad you can't restructure contracts in the NBA like you can in the NFL. I'd given Parsons some of Lin's $.

fixed. Same rules applied. If you trade that player he can't be amnestied unless that option is given under his contract. Only signed players like Lin and White could be amnestied. The LeBron's would always get that guaranteed money, while Joe Johnson's contract could be amnestied depending on the performance each season.

    I know I said t-rob because of 0 production @ 3.6 million

    But now I'm thinking...

Garcia at $6.5 million which is almost up to Lin's $8.3m

I don't think Morey would let Lin go as the 3rd most important player for wins on this team.

    Fair questions.

People said similar about Harden when he first came here. I think you grossly underestimate the effect freedom and coach backing has on whether or not a player can show he's a star. I think Linsanity proves that when the offense is structured around Lin(as it was around harden this year), and he is allowed to play as a POINT GUARD as opposed to a combo/shooting guard, he CAN be a star. I think his performances on the court when Harden didn't play this season show this. And I think his stats at the end of the season also show that he has this potential.

If you look at his stats his 3 point shot has already improved SIGNIFICANTLY over the course of the season. From November - 26% --> Dec - 29% ---> Jan - 32% ---> Feb - 42% ---> March - 40% ---> April - 36%. Bringing his SEASON average to 34%, which is not bad at all considering his bad start(Some consideration for return from injury etc?).

I think he can comfortably average 36-40% which is good enough. For comparison... Delfino's average for the season is 37% and is 36% for his career. You can't expect Lin to be like Steve Novak, who is a dedicated 3 point shooter only (42% this season).

He also averaged 7 assists per 36 in the last 2.5 months. That's without a low post finishing threat and Asik's butter fingers. I'd say his decision making is better than you think it is. I'd say it's also better than Harden's whose turnovers were a worrying issue as the season progressed and whose tendency for bone-headed ISO plays at the end of games (despite the coach seemingly wanting more ball movement) was there for all to see. But I think they will BOTH improve in this regard with more experience.

I watched every Rockets game this season. Lin was very effective in guarding other point guards. What i saw... time and time again was coach mchale putting in first Douglas and then Beverly for their 'energy/defense' and them being immediately lit up by starting point guards that TILL that point Lin had done a great job of containing.

He has significantly improved his off the ball play and his per 36 average for the last 2.5 months of the season reflects this. He will improve further during the off season and with a full training camp working with Harden.

Also this is not all on Lin either. Harden needs to ISO less, he is more efficient when he does, and coaches need to trust Lin more, which I think they will as he continues to prove himself despite all obstacles.

Yes there's a reason. It's the same reason Lin has been overlooked his entire career. It's the same reason he gets an irrational amount of hatred from 'true Rockets fans'. It's the same reason people ignore context when discussing Lin's stats but want to apply context when talking about other players'.

And this reason doesn't have anything to do with his ability on a basketball court.

Another reason I voted Royce White is he's an embarrassment and probably cost Morey his Executive of the Year.

Hey if you can do that, then go for it, if you can get CP3, then go for it. if you can get the big name free agents I'm all for it, using Lin as a trade piece/asset.

    But voiding his contract...

I think this whole thread should be voided.

I think this whole thread should be voided.

Has Lin, or anyone in the poll (except maybe Royce White) done anything remotely closed to even have this thread be started?

If you think a player is overpaid, that is one thing. But a player has to have done something to the organization to come down to getting his contract void.

As I understand it, the only way that a team can void a contract is if the player has broken a moral code of conduct.

If you want to talk about Royce White and start a thread about whether to void his contract or not, that's fine. But this poll thing is an insult to all the other players who have done nothing but work hard and play hard for the team.
