Did you really just say that a politician is not concerned with what the voters think about his politics/policies?

Poster, I have known Ted Cruz for 25 years, Ted Cruz was an acquaintance of mine, and you, sir, are no Te....well actually you're a lot like Ted Cruz.

I am talking about the other Senators that dislike him.

And his constituents like him just fine and with the rallying he has been doing lately he has more than assured another 4 years.

CBS news did not say what Ted Cruz did. Their reporting was more accurate.

What Cruz said was completely inaccurate.

What Cruz said in alarmist language that there was the unprecedented situation of the govt. of Iran formally and publicly praising the nomination of the Hagel as defense secretary. He then went on to say that the govt. of Iran was publicly celebrating the nomination.

This is what really happened. An Iranian press secretary was asked about Hagel. His answer was this: "We hope there will be practical changes in American foreign policy and that Washington becomes respectful of the rights of nations."

There was no praising of Hagel. There was no public celebrating. Iran said the same thing it's been saying for years.

CBS did not say the same things that Cruz did.

Cruz lied. I haven't seen any context that changes that.

I've posted videos and explained it just now. He lied when he claimed Iran publicly celebrated at Hagel's nomination. He lied when he said that Iran formally and publicly praised Hagel's nomination.

He lied when claimed there were 12 Harvard law professors that were Marxists and wanted a communist overthrow of the U.S. govt.

Those lies certainly aren't the worst lies a politician has told. They are McCarthy-esque though, and they are lies, and since the one is directed at Hagel it could be compared to bullying.

I will do some research, but I am willing to concede there is some partial truths in what he said.

How about the headline used, "...cheers Iran,"

He wouldn't be the first politician guilty of using headlines.

If Cruz is as smart as you and others know he is, why do you think he would lie knowing that other people would look into his allegations.

The fact is that high ranking Iranian officials publicly praised the appointment of Hagel.

I'm a Cruz constituent. He is a propagandist and an affront to rational thought. It embarrasses me no end that the seemingly good people around me keep electing the Delay's, Perry's and Cruz's of politics. And it's even worse that these 'Christians' represent the total opposite of the fearless, empathetic, compassionate, humble, non-violente communal spirit that is what their religions should be. They fear monger, deny science, and polarize the differences in people to inspire selfish, shallow, short-sighted, regressive behavior. It's Orwellian and to not understand that is at best naive if not down right cognitively dissonant.

Not Christian bashing, hypocrisy bashing. I echo Gandhi's quote on Christ and Christianity. As I understand the philosophy, I don't see any expression of it in the politicians that claim it. Show me a politician who stands for tolerance, non-violence, selflessness, humility, shared effort and bounty.

No, no melt down, just one cup of coffee so far. I am pretty sick of the stoopid in Texas though. And Cruz is just the latest example. He's trolling you people in a narcissistic effort to gain and hold power. He is playing you for fools.
And you FAUX-tards are so easily led through your nose rings of self-interest, fear and ignorance.

You described every politician ever with this quote (with two adjustments from me.) They are trolling all of us. They play all of us for fools. Or I should say, they play everyone for fools that actually buys into their BS. That includes Obama, Hillary, Cruz, Boehner, etc. There are only a few examples of high ranking politicians in recent history that probably don't fit that description.

True, politics do require one to be duplicitous, disingenuous, image conscious and a money w****. Few people can hack it out of a real devotion to service to the people. Most are just narcissists craving the ego strokes.

Well I think it comes down to the fact that if you aren't a narcissist that is hell bent on doing whatever it takes to advance then there is someone else who wants your spot that will. His or her willingness to do the things you won't makes it easier for him or her to take your spot.

Cruz is smart enough to know that very few will look into what he says. He's also smart enough to know that if they do few will pay attention.

Please show the link where Iran officially praised Hagel's nomination? I would like to see the statement. Please show me where Iran celebrated the nomination of Hagel as Cruz claimed.

CBS never made the claim that Iran praised and celebrated the nomination. That was Cruz doing that.

Cruz lied his ass off knowing that most people would never find out, and even if they did half of them would plug their ears and refuse to acknowledge that he was caught lying in order to insult and slander another politician.

    Welcome to Texas, Mr. President

    Contact: (202) 224-5922 / press@cruz.senate.gov
    Thursday, May 9, 2013

WASHINGTON, DC – U.S. Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) today welcomed President Obama to Texas, where the President is scheduled to kick off his “Middle Class Jobs and Opportunity Tour.”

“America is stuck with high unemployment and low GDP growth, so it’s encouraging to see the President coming to Austin to talk about jobs – perhaps he will learn how to create some from the folks who know how,” said Sen. Cruz. “Texas is leading the nation in economic growth and job creation because of principled, conservative leaders who understand the keys to economic success are lower, flatter taxes, limited government and restrained spending. Texas has shown the country how it's done, and we hope the President will take some of these lessons back to Washington to bring true economic recovery to our nation.”

Texas continues to outperform the nation in terms of economic growth and job creation. The state’s unemployment rate has consistently remained below the national average, currently at 6.4 percent, compared to the national rate of 7.6 percent. Eight of the 15 fastest-growing large cities between 2010 and 2011 were in Texas. And as states with high spending and high taxes are losing jobs, Texas is gaining them. In fact, between 2006 and 2012, Texas gained one million jobs, while California lost 359,000 jobs. Additionally, Texas continues to receive national accolades for its robust business climate, most recently in a report released this week by Chief Executive Magazine, naming Texas the best state for business for the ninth consecutive year.
