The best argument made was about high who and low IQ not mixing with this team.

My argument is that Josh Smith as well was Dwight Howard rely on athleticism and that will be declining inevitably. If Howard has a setback with his back and if Josh Smith gets fat as he goes into his mid 30s, neither has a kid range game to remain as effective.

Give me Millsap + $4 million more in cap over Josh Smith.
I'll keep Asik and let Dwight stay in LA and ruin his dreams every year in the playoffs.

I agree with this. His recent comments at the deadline make it more realistic that he will sign for less than max. He said something along "tell me when I said I wanted the max next year". I am sure it was his agent that caused this rumour to be going around. Of course he will be LOOKING to get max but there is no way he will demand it. I say about what he is currently making is well in line with what he deserves. about 12-13 million or so. I am just not sure if the Rockets should bite or not. I think I would rather have Millsap but even that may not be worth it considering the potential development of D-mo and Robinson.

Howard, Smith, and Harden, and we would not be championship contenders?

That's not possible. Even if we had to cut salary, we would still definitely have Parsons.

Are people not seeing what Howard is doing in L.A?? Howard needs too much room to operate..You put Howard on the Rockets and hes gonna hog up space..mainly interior..

Rockets do not need a center that is not producing.Houston's starting 5 all have better numbers than last year..Absolutely no one has seen Howard getting any better in the last 3 years..People want Howard because they've seen great highlight reels...but the truth is he has poor court awareness,a terrible shooter..he cant put the ball on the floor...and no low post moves..

    No signs of getting better..

I totally agree that giving smith max years and money is risky and see why some don't want him here for that.
But anyone saying we shouldn't want Howard is dillusional. Howard should be our number 1 target and we should do anything to try and get him unless it meant losing Harden Lin or Parsons. If we have to lose any other player in order to reshape our roster so be it.
And I'd assume morey is willing to do that.

This will happen. We will sign smith and Howard on the same day. Smith will take less money.

I had a dream that Howard said he would definitely come to Houston if we got Smith. My dreams are never prophetic, but I think they are now!!

I'd take neither over both. I really dislike Josh Smith and don't believe he'll ever be a part of a championship team. It's like the old days saying, "if Antoine Walker could ever stop shooting a bazillion threes," or "if Glenn Robinson could ever stop eating," or "if Larry Johnson could ever stop pissing off David Stern by thanking Allah after game winning shots".

There are just certain fatal flaws to players, who are substantial pieces in their own rights commanding high dollar contracts, that make them 100% locks to never win a championship. You just can't do it. Josh Smith is another one of those "if" players. If if if. He's never gonna be that guy you want him to be, and by translation he'll never be on a championship team unless it's as a ring chasing veteran on a minimum-type deal.

If your core is Harden, Millsap and Parsons your not going anywhere in the playoffs.

Agreed. You sign Milsap or Smith and you're doomed to mediocrity, however, I'd take either on 1yr max deals.

I want Josh Smith, the path to the NBA title is most likely going through Miami for the foreseeable future. What better way to exploit the Heat than with front court duo of Smith and Asik!

The only team Miami fears or well could see as a potential threat this season is Memphis, stellar defense, monster bigs and multiple wings that can pester Lebron and Wade all game.

Smith is the answer, just not at a max contract. Something starting at 12 million with max raises would be fair, not sure that gets us J Smoove though.

Asik doesn't exploit front court weaknesses, that's precisely the problem with him, no offense to actually do it.
