I can't even imagine how great we'd compete against the spurs if we would have beat OKC.

I think everyone is a little jelly right now...

It should def be the Rockets right now. Rockets would have crushed the spurs with Asik on Duncan and would have crushed the Nuggets. what a cake walk to the western conference finals!

Classic rockets to fall into the worst possible scenario.

2009: Rockets have to win one game to bypass blazers and lakers in playoffs. one game away from a cake walk to the western conference finals! they lose

2011: Rocket need only win a couple games to make playoffs, they lose 7! out of the playoffs..

2013: Win 1 of 2 games against just awful comp to miss the worst possible scenario! Rockets lose both! Have to play the best team in the west..

    classic rockets.

I will have to see what happens with them after this year. I've seen the Warriors have highly touted teams in the past (Run TMC, the Baron Davisettes, etc.), only to stall or regress. The Rockets have a much better track record of building teams towards improvement (Moses Malone Rockets, 1984-1986, the whole 90s group, getting Mac and Yao, etc.) than the Warriors. Doesn't mean history will repeat, but it'll be interesting to see if all their players return, if they have another run like this next year (with a few bounces here and there, they could've been eliminated by the Nuggets, etc.).

If Rox would have taken care of their own business they would be 6th seed and probably on the same run as GSW. I feel GSW right now are slightly better the Rox currently but it took a Rocket end of season collapse to help Warriors. I still feel Rox have a brighter future, especially if a key free agent is signed in the next year or so.

Overrated means people are rating them highly. Not me.

How many years in a row does this have to happen? Spurs have a high win regular season and then get exposed by a young team and summarily dismissed in a playoff series.

Well we spanked them 3 times.

It was more about dropping games to lesser teams. Also that January schedule was some bull.

That is such a terrible, biased sample. Go look at other teams, and they pretty much have very similar situations in different years. The Rockets didn't play the best team in the West- w/o Westbrook, they are not the best. And there's no proof whatsoever that we would have crushed the Spurs or the Nuggets. You're seeing things with Rockets-colored glasses and don't have a very good perspective on these types of things.

There is no secret why the Rockets didn't succeed more with T-mac and Yao- injuries and the rockets did a poor job of surrounding them with talent. There's a reason why the 1990s Rockets succeeded- Olajuwon and they surrounded him with very good, but not great, talent (well, except for Drexler in 1995).

There is actually a chance the Warriors dont' even make the playoffs next year. Here's how:

    1. Spurs- great regular season team
    2. Thunder-
    3. Nuggets
    4. Grizzlies
    5. Clippers
    6. Blazers (don't count this team out- they are easily a playoff team with all their players healthy)
    7. Rockets (then again, we could miss the playoffs like the Warriors)
    8. Lakers, Jazz, etc.- any of these get 1-2 good free agents and the Warriors could be looking at 9th place

Do I think this will happen? No. But I've seen hot teams like this have follow-up, disappointing seasons.

    Almost stopped reading here. LOLs.

Stopped reading here. The Blazers at #6. LOLs.

You do know GSW is playing without David Lee, right.

Eh... wouldn't get too carried away with the past.

Curry is better right now than any of the above players the Warriors had in the past... and he's bringing it in the playoffs.

Also, over the past 15 years, the Warriors have won more playoff series than the Rockets. Both teams have been nothing short of mediocre. Sure, the Rockets had more "windows" which they did nothing with, but when its all said and done, they've accomplished just about nothing since 1997... and the Warriors are currently better.
