Big news coming out of Old Trafford as early as tomorrow morning.

Rumours have it that Sir Alex will retire at the season's end, and Moyes or Phelan will become his successor. (God I hope this isn't true)

Hopefully its transfer or finance related but my worst fear is probably going to become a reality.

Or this is a bunch of bull that some bored journalist in England cooked up to raise views.

It's official. Fergie is leaving at the end of the season. Wow.:(:(:(:(:(:(

Also, I'd have to belive Rene would be in the mix to replace him. Not my choice but whatever.
Also-what a coincidence, Mourinho will no doubt be leaving Madrid at season's end. :)

That was exactly my first thought. Is it really a coincidence?

I hope not. I can't imagine ManU going from the classy Sir Alex to that jackass.

The leading rumor is David Moyes. Personally, I'd like to see someone from within the family. Maybe persuade Giggs to hang up the boots. Maybe Ole Gunnar Solskjær, who's currently a manager in Norway for Molde.

Not the news I wanted to wake up to.

Looks like it will be Moyes. It will interesting to see what he can do with some actual financial backing. The way he's kept Everton a CL contender without spending anything is quite impressive.

So the outline criteria according to the media outlets is, "Any successor to the Scot would be required by the club to have extended experience of managing in the Champions League, as well as expertise in handling a large budget and squad."

So with that in mind, my preference goes like:
Jurgen Klopp (doubtful but ideal choice)
    Frank Rikjaard
    Laurent Blanc
    Jose Mourniho
    Manuel Pellegrini
    David Moyes

    My realistic choices

    and in order of preference

    Carlo Ancelotti
Jupp Heynckes(though he's not that much younger than SAF)
    David Moyes
    Laurent Blanc
    Jose Mourinho

Sir Alex Ferguson started managing Manchester United a few months before I was born... 26 years ago. I've never known and can't imagine United without him. There is no better coach/manager in the history of sports... Only way to sum his career up... THE GREATEST OF ALL TIME.

Great coach, thought we would see him a couple of more years with Giggs or Scholes taking over.

Moyes is a great replacement though, loyal guy, interested to see what he can do there. Solid squad already in place, would be nice if he brought Fellaini along.

    Ah shuddit!
But seriously, he wouldn't be the only manager to come off as a sore loser after a tough loss. I'm sure most wouldn't call him the classiest of managers (ie a Pep Guardiola) but SAF isn't alone in the sore loser managerial group. I think Mourinho, prior to his passive aggressive desire to destroy the Madrid dressing room this season, had usurped SAF as the king of sore loser managers.
