Imagine Tyreke Evans as part of Houston's small lineup: Lin, Harden, Evans, Parson & Josh Smith It would be lethal to defend if every single player can handle the ball, shoot the 3 or take it to the rim.
I would only want him in a sixth man type of role and even then...I just don't think his game meshes with us.
He's basically Harden without the Shooting. Which means he's a good dribble drive penetrator. Why wouldn't you want that coming off the bench? He'd be able to give Harden a rest as long as we put a decent shooter out there with Reke.
I thought we already had a dribble-drive penetrator who can't shoot and half of Clutchfans despises him
Reke doesnt have the legacy of Rekesanity now does he? Reke has no expectations so I don't see it being an issue so long as he finishes well.
As a player who won ROY, I have, or had, high expectations for him. But yes, he would make a good sixth man off the bench, I agree with you. At the right price, of course. I always imagine White would play like him.
With the Rockets, it would really depend on salary, but I would love to sign him with the money we get from passing on Delfino and Garcia. Of course, it could restrict us for the future to go after a bigger star so if that were the case, then I say no. (I know you weren't suggesting the Rockets sign him, OP) In terms of potential, though, he had more believers than Harden after a couple years so I could see him fulfilling his star potential here in a much better organization. His streaky shooting is an issue that people are citing, but his FG% is actually higher than Harden (48%) and his 3 point % is only a few off the pace (34%) so it's not like he's atrocious, but from watching him, he could definitely use some work on it.
You definately go for him. I'm tired of picking dleague all-stars. Players we could've picked up, Nate dog, j.r smith, Kenyon, bird man,......
Reke is probably gonna command an 8-figure salary. It's hard to justify paying that much to a sixth-man. Also, would he be okay coming off the bench? Lots of players aren't willing to swallow their pride and do that.
I like Tyreke's game but the he's on the bottom of the pecking pole as far as Morey is concerned. There is one player becoming a free agent, you know the one who likes to wear capes and thinks he can fly...... ........ ........ ........
The dude cannot shoot and until he shows he can I don't think he would help the Rockets...He is a ball dominating guard and we have that already in Harden. It would make more sense to go after Gordon than Evans. Gordon can at least hit a 15-20 ft. jumper............Evans is a good player but not great and deserves to be on a better team not maned the ROCKETS.
Lol yes I know he probably wouldnt want to be a 6th man and I know he's like Harden and that he dominates the ball. I've already said that. I was just saying he is still a good player and has potential to be a great one. Could be a good pick up for a team in need.
Selfish stat-w****. If you like the Harden dribble the clock and pass it with 4 seconds, you're going to just adore him.
Usually to be classified as great, you have to have high basketball IQ, a sweet shot, or at least a hard-working attitude. Tyreke is 0 for 3. The Rockets are hardly a team in need, and even if we were, I'd still say pass on this guy. I hate the fact that the Kings basically pumped the ball into him 50 times a game his rookie season just to pimp out the fact that they had a rookie that posted 20/5/5. It was sad to watch the fans in Sacramento celebrate that.
there are so many teams with space this off season, any team without a quality situation to walk into will be overpaying.
Evans is basically Steve Francis 2.0. A physically talented player who doesn't play smart, makes poor decisions, is inefficient, has poor court vision, and is not very coachable. He looks like a star but does not make the team much better. He is the opposite of what Morey looks for in a player.
