That's a separate issue. The point is that not knowing where it comes from and insinuating that it comes from N. Korea is insulting, and total BS.

I don't believe it is a separate issue. He made his point. He said it could have come from Saudi Arabia, which is an ally, or from North Korea, which is an enemy. His point was not naming North Korea but addressing the severity of the issue of appointing a person to one of the highest defense positions in the nation that has 200K unaccounted for and no one knows where it comes from. North Korea was named to make the point that it could have come from anywhere. This isn't a big deal if he is Joe Schmo, but he wants the position of SOD, the American public deserves to know that her leaders are not for sale.

    Second coming of Old Hickory.

Not saying I think Jackson was a good president, just that he was able to get **** done. Something our country needs right now, be it from either side.

Somehow, if SC passed an act that says the federal income tax and the IRS are no longer valid in SC, I doubt President Cruz would say "War is a blessing compared with national degradation" and volunteer to personally lead the army to SC.

Getting stuff done in government is overrated, as it typically involves the loss of your freedom and/or wealth.

Right...he just used Saudi Arabia as a generic ally to contrast against our enemy, North Korea. Do you really believe what you write? He implied it was money from Saudi Arabia cause that is where lots and lots of terrorist money comes from.

I sincerely hope that Cruz keeps running his mouth. He is a worse candidate than Mitt Romney...

Saudi Arabia is currently an ally. Does terrorist money filter through Saudi? Yes.

There is still a question about where the money came from.

I disagree with Cruz on a lot of things and don't think he'd ever have my vote, but I will defend him against his fellow senators who have a problem with his aggressiveness. The senate is way too much of a good ol boy (and girl) club. They look out for each other, don't hit each other too hard, etc. I remember during the Hagel and Kerry confirmations one thing you kept hearing was "They are shoe ins because they are one of them, Senators." I personally thought they should be confirmed, but it shouldn't be a case of Senators don't eat other senators.

Feinstein and Reid don't like that he doesn't follow traditional senate behavior patterns. That's a joke. If you want to attack him for lying, go for it. But don't whine because he doesn't respect seniority.

Even the whole "junior senator" thing drives me nuts. The senate is such a stuck up club of lawmakers. They see themselves as Lords.

He could have gotten that money from stores of Nazi gold...we just don't know. And what did Hagel's father do during WWII? I don't have that information in front of me, so he *could* have been stealing gold teeth from holocaust victims. Is is right that our Secretary of Defense potentially received funds from Jew killing Nazis?

Hey, I can be Ted Cruz as well!

That's not how our government works. We're not a parliamentary system. In Canada or the UK, the parties will eat each other alive but that's by design. One party (or parties if its a coalition) has control and the rest oppose them by yelling and screaming.

In the US, we share power across multiple bodies that split political control. In the case of the Senate, the Democrats have a majority but the Republicans can block action with a filibuster.

To create actual legislation and progress within the body, BOTH sides have to be respectful of each other. That doesn't mean they can't disagree but simply taking the Senate floor to grandstand over the most ludicrous things is a waste of time and does nothing to engender bipartisanship.

What Cruz is doing is an unnecessary standup show in a body that is built around civility. The rules are designed as such. If the filabuster didn't exist and the Democrats could ram through whatever they wanted, I wouldn't care as much but that's not how the Senate works.
