Dude, chill. We get it, you're offended about some of the flack Lin has taken on this board. Go have a beer and watch some baseball for a few months and try to get over it.

I think it's legitimate to say this was Lin's true rookie season. here's how he compares to Rose and Paul in their first year:

    Lin: FG 44.1%, 3P 33.9%, PPG 13.4, Assists 6.1, TO 2.9
    Rose: FG 47.5%, 3P 22.2%, PPG 16.8, Assists 6.3, TO 2.5
    Paul: FG 43.0%, 3P 28.2%, PPG 16.1, Assists 7.8, TO 2.3

Not saying he's on their level. Not saying he didn't make some boneheaded rookie mistakes at key points in several games.

Some of you want to crucify this guy. I just don't see it.

Waste of time to compare Lin to Rose or Paul. If we had Rose or Paul, Harden would be our second best player.

Left out some important #'s in their age as rookies. Lin is much older than the other 2 were at the time. I still don't understand those who try to still consider Lin a rookie. Just doesn't make sense to me, but whatever.

That said I don't think Lin was bad this season. All things considered he performed well after starting extremely slow and it's hard to blame someone for getting injured down the stretch.

Sidenote: crazy to think Lin is actually a couple months older than Rose. Feels like Rose has been around for a long time now.

Because this was his first full season as a starter/player...:)
Btw,he only played 39 games before his breakout game against the Nets last year. (Lin got time only in blowouts)
So Lin is basically a rookie this year.Even Parsons has more experience than Lin.

Dude you do realize its not better for the Rockets or Lin right? I love Bev but he is made to be a backup who can play extended minutes sometimes. Not a starter. It's true that you may think Bev fits better because Harden is the main ball handler but you'll start to see this is not the case. If Harden controls the ball and becomes the "PG" he will get really tired having to carry the passing and scoring load. Harden doesn't play the point as well as Lin does, and it will show as he racks up more turnovers. Harden needs a point guard who, yes, can spot up and shoot, but also needs someone who can facilitate, penetrate and play make to take pressure off him. The fact is Lin has proven he can do all those things and he's really improving on his shot, and he will continue to do so over the summer. As Lin improves on his ball handling and lessens his turnover rate, Mchale will start to trust Jeremy with the ball and have him run the true point most of the time, as opposed to only like half the time this year.

As far as Lin goes, it's true he might end up putting up better stats on a crap team, but I think he'd much rather play here where he can actually play in the playoffs and actually contend in the recent future. And not only that, but the truth is Lin still has quite a few weaknesses and playing more off the ball here will help him improve in those areas (You saw it this year with the 3pt shooting). This will enable him to become a better and solid point guard in the long-term

I just don't see why this being his 1st full season as starter means he should be considered a rookie. He had 1225 minutes coming into this season. That's not a ton, but he still had that experience. To me it just feels like a cheap excuse that really isn't necessary.

Haha, it does! Oops, my cover is blown.

I do like the description....for both my Jeremy self AND my Carol self "starting to get dangerously good." lol

Dude, really?!? You had to come into my thread, which had been fairly presentable especially considering what's going on elsewhere around here, and do this....over and over and over again? Really? :(

Can you just step back and think at least a little bit about the way Jeremy might want things to play out rather than how you want them to? JLin seems to really enjoy playing for this team, this young, exciting team that is on the verge of creating something special. He loves his teammates. I believe he likes Coach McHale too (altho I know a whole mess of people will disagree with me). He likes Houston. Seems like he's really comfortable there.

Have you seen all those interviews floating around now where he talks about a need to feel comfortable, a need for stability? Yet, you want to rip him out of where he's been for just a year, where he has a chance to do something special with a bunch of guys that he loves hanging with, because this is not playing out the way you want it to? Does what Jeremy want matter even a little?

I remember reading an article after the Rockets had come into Brooklyn and beaten the Nets. Jeremy was sick at the time, hadn't played particularly well, but the Rockets won handily and the article was all about how happy and relaxed and comfortable Jeremy was post-game, as a Houston Rocket. It was a really nice read. I was happy to think he was that happy.

Really, none of that matters to you, if he's not getting to play the way you want him to? Really? :(

Its okay Carol , some people will say anything and keep on insinuating it to get what they want, Jeremy is happy with the Rockets and he himself said he wants to improve all aspects of his game and that he can't wait to hang out with his Rockets teammates this summer to develop better chemistry and become a even better team next season :)

Yep. I just hope he does improve and gets to stay with the Rockets for a long time.

I noticed that Coach McHale used the infamous 'home run hitter' analogy in talking about Jeremy in his exit interview video today but it seemed he was being careful to make sure it didn't sound like he was criticizing Jeremy too much, saying that what enables Jeremy to be really good is that he's a home run hitter a lot, but he needs to lay down a few bunts and hit a few singles too. I don't think that "29 points and 9 turnovers" thing back in February came out the way he meant it to.

Don't worry about things like that sometimes the media takes comments like that out of context to create controversy , even if Kevin meant to say it like that , he was just giving Jeremy constructive criticism to help him become an even better player next season. I truly believe Jeremy will stay with the Rockets and that he will most definitely improve , although this season its unfortunate that James Harden came over late to the Rockets , so the team has not had a full training camp this year , next season they will have a full training camp to figure out everybody's weaknesses and how to play better as a team. Even Kevin Durant said that the Rockets reminded him of the Thunder when they first played together.

The only reason he averaged 17/7 in April was there were a few games Harden did not play. That is an anomaly and small sample size and will most likely not happen again according to most people here.

What were Paul's and Rose' usage rates and minutes played per game? And in 4th quarter?
