I would be very happy to see him back next year.

Its the residual glue from Hardens hands and other players feet he is stepping on.

I see him as a macho but fatherly figure crude, tough as nails and possibly obscenely irrational at times but good enough to get much love and respect from the team. I think he has given lots of freedom to his players but he needs to get rid of that bottle of glue from them by imposing a style of play. Could become a very likeable coach.

I don't mind seeing him return. He definitely has a lot of flaws, but it's not like there's a significantly better coach on the market right now. I just hope we get a defensive-specialist assistant coach.

Seriously, how in the world could the Rockets fire McHale after this past season?

Seriously. He took the youngest Team in the NBA and damn near pushed them into the second round. Honestly if it wasn't for KDs lucky bounce in game 3, we would probably be playing memphis right now.

10% chance that McHale walks away sounds like BS, unless he has cancer or something.

I'm surprised this is even being discussed. Luv him or hate him the McHale years are here. Get used to it.

I agree with you but there were a lot of posters that were convinced he would be fired by Morey.

A playoff appearance and wins against the top seed. Of course McHale should stick around.

McHale is a legend and he isn't going anywhere.

He's made excellent adjustments in the playoffs.

Putting Garcia on Durant. Beverly and Aaron Brooks.
The team responds to him, plus he's an NBA hall of famer who was one of the best low post players of all time. If we get a good big, he can help him out like he helped out Garnett.

I didn't think McHale was a competent coach but he redeemed himself in the playoffs. Him and Harden need to get on the same page next season. We can't afford to continue losing close games and expect to improve our record.

McHale does things the way the front office wants him to -- they emphasize the statistical high percentage stuff and de-emphasize the low percentage stuff (hence the rarity of mid-range jumpers in the offense, for example). He got more out of this bunch than was expected.

My guess is that if McHale leaves, it would be purely McHale's decision, and for personal reasons. The front office definitely wants to keep him around.

Only way I see it is if he is needing the time to cope with the loss of his daughter. He took some time off, but I imagine he didn't really deal with it at that time and now that the summer is here it will probably hit him a bit harder.

People keep saying he redeemed himself during the playoffs yet forgetting the massive fail of not playing Brooks at all in the second half. To go away from what was working was just stupid.

Honestly I think it's a shame that there are some people down on McHale's coaching job.

He had a team full of bench players last season and nearly took us to the playoffs.

He had the youngest team in the NBA this season and took us to game six against the Thunder. Not to mention it was a season where he was emotionally overwhelmed at the unfortunate loss of his daughter.

It's not as if he never makes mistakes but he doesn't really make that many.

A lot of our team's weaknesses this season had to do with them just being young and forgetting what they were told three seconds ago.
