While I'd like to say "I love it when a plan comes together", you can't use the MLE if you weren't over the cap unless you use a cap hold on the MLE (which isn't really something you want to do), this is done so teams can't sign free agents and then use the mle to add someone else (lol).

As for Harden, it's a little tricky, because if specific salary cap details are used it may be argued he was acting as an agent of the team rather than of his own volition.

OK. I am wrong on this one. Looks like you should be able to swing it under a sign and trade.

For a non tax paying team which we should still be at even after the Dwight's 20m contract. The Rockets can can take back the outgoing salary plus $5MM, for any amount between $9.8MM and $19.6MM.

So if we were to trade Tjones, DMoe, White, and Trob to Atl we could take back approx. up to a 13.2 million in salary for Josh Smith.

This would put us right over 70 million. I am sure that we would go over that amount since the cap holds are for only rookies and we will likely be signing more expensive minimum vets. So we might exceed the Luxury tax depending upon where it is set.

    Back up Center options:
    Zaza Pachulia
    Diop
    Kaman
    Sammy D
    Pekovic
    Bynum (starter if he's healthy)
    Splitter
    Al Jefe
    Okafor (bring him home)

Just some food for thought since back up C is the only position we dont actually have....

yah I dont think there is any reason even to debate with people saying we shouldnt try and sign howard. We SHOULD and we WILL. Him and Chris paul...whether we get them is different,

Superstar talent you sign and worry about fit later...if you cant make it work...you can always do just this. Trade to another team for a player youd prefer that you COULDNT HAVE SIGNED.....aka...love, aldridge.

this is stupid...both morey and mchale has stated HARDEN IS A GOOD DEFENDER AND SHOWN GLIMPSES OF BEING GREAT.

You try being the no 1 scoring option and see how much energy you put into defense.

CP3 and or howard would take that pressure off of him, and let him have more energy to concentrate on defense.

On the defensive end, what he needs more than anything, it was somewhat amusing, that for the first few months, what you'd see is traces of OKC defensive schemes (such as sliding back buying time for the trailing block) that were clearly in his head.

no ... I dont know what that screams...but its not 3rd or 4th.

One combo I have never seen... that would be absolutely HELLACIOUS in transition...and the perimeter def would be insane.

There is weaknesses there...but man... would be a unique team for sure.

So its actually possible to attain all 3 player with harden and parsons still on the team...that's insane. If this deal was really offered to the players I wonder if they'd actually go for it. I mean Miami did it, why not us too.

Personally I think the center number 55, would be a better compliment to Asik coming off the bench.

The thing you all over look is this:

you gotta understand....morey is a flippin numbers genius. He offered contracts no one else knew or thought about to lin and asik. He exploited the CBA to its fullest. Everyone said the other teams would match...I dont think the other GMs even knew that what morey did was possible.

Every player on the current team is on Morey contract, or one he accquired know it "fi" future plans.

So I am sure morey knows every possible scenario it would take and what he would need to do in order to make it happen.

Plan A of course is CP3 and Howard. Which despite what most think...is more likely then getting just one of them. I think if they give up the guaranteed money and spotlight of LA its to form the next big 3...and to do so with a GM with an ELITE ability to put starting quality players around them for cheap.

You gotta understand morey can build a better team then the clippers with only using 2nd rd picks and overseas free agents guys.... you add in the advantage of having a big 3...and veterans signing for dirt cheap to win it all.

There is no telling what morey can do. That right there is the key to everything.

i am not sure if we should have Harden recruiting

He doesnt seem too well spoken, dominates the ball via ISOS. If I were Dwight, I wouldnt want to play with Harden. Doesnt do much for him. At least Kobe has a huge fan base that can make Dwight more high profile.

I think just have Morey and Dream go pitch Dwight

    That below, pretty much this!

Not go gush all over Morey and he has made some mistakes but he has also made some brilliant moves. Dude is playing chess while others are playing checkers. Multiple moves ahead, contract exit strategies etc.

When you can have TWO KEY STARTERS (Parsons & Beverley) for each under 1M, then you can afford to take on 3 big contracts like Harden/CP3/DH12.

Morey can "fill out" the roster just fine with key role players.
