McHale isn't the best coach, but you know what, he's earned his spot. I feel the same way about McHale as I do Lin, neither is exactly who I'd want to have around here but I think it's a good foundation to build off of. If McHale decides to step away from the game I understand, if not, I'm excited for next year. The theme of this Rockets team next year has got to be defense. Maybe McHale can bring that here again.

I think the players will get tired of SVG incessant demands. And if Howard decides to leave LAL, I'm not sure how that affects his decision going to Houston even though it has been reported that they are buddy-buddies again

If it's not Rudy T or Phil Jackson, then McHale is the perfect guy for this organization next season. He has some great qualities going for him:

    - Freedom on offense
    - Makes use of Morey's stats
    - Perfect for coaching big men
    - Good reputation in the league
    - Likeable to players
    - Got this team to give everything this season, and finished above expectations

Look forward to next season. I hope he has scheduled and structured Smith, D-Mo, Jones and Asik's summer workouts.

McHale is an OK coach, but I'm not convinced he is the right one for a Houston team with great playoff ambitions.

    - He let Harden play iso without yet offering sufficient variations to make it work better. And his demand in POs that Harden do less iso was thus empty, as the latter and the team don't know how.
    - He has the Read and React offense which fits the roster talent well, but again not refined enough or with sufficient set plays to help players out when this kind of random ball fails under pressure of good defense.

In a nutshell, I believe the team needs better structured offense beyond the excuse of random RNR. And McHale hasnot shown any sign that he'd be the guy.

He played Parsons in his rookie year and playing Beverly at the right moment, he clearly knows his team. I believe one thing that might hurt him as coach is his physical condition. I can't help, but noticed that when he walks, he has a limp. This season is full of McHail!!!

If we get Stan we won't get Dwight obviously.

Just read Dwight is nostalgic about Stan after the Lakers debacle.

Wow!! Hope he stays. McHale can be the new Phil Jackson if he wants.

Well Morey knows Howard will not sign if Stan Van Gundy becomes the head coach. This is a no brainer, but more importantly if we strike out on Howard we need Mchale's relationship to pick up Jefferson.

For all the crap that people have been talking about McHale, honestly he out-coached Scott Brooks by a mile. I thought Game 2 he was absolutely brilliant with his small lineup, and zone defense. And after that it seemed like he wasn't scared of the big stage. It was just unfortunate that his coaching couldn't beat Kevin Durant's shooting, otherwise we could've definitely won this series.

I think it would be too much drama with those two, they both know the chapter has closed.

I figured it would happen, at this rate only McHale could turn down the job to retire or something.

Personally, despite the massive improvements I saw in coaching during the playoffs (once Westbrook was out of the picture and once Garcia was shown better at containing Durant then anyone on the team) he still seems not to be a great developer of young talent (especially young big men) like he was sold as. His best work has been Greg Smith (who appeared to have matured into more then a dunking machine before being transformed into a calf in the playoff series) and Chandler Parsons (who, like Asik, Harden and Beverly, you question how much is it McHale's coaching and how much is it the natural growth of his natural talents and strengths with increased playing time). We will see next season but I hope I'm proven wrong as I feel McHale's own inexperience coaching will be a liability in these years where Harden (and Parsons) is at his prime.

he's going to run our guys into the ground. We need a PF who can solidify our front court--so that we can slow the game down.

Are you familiar with why he limps so badly?

The dude was a warrior when he played. I hated him and the Celtics because of them taking down the Rockets in the Finals in 81 and 86....but he was worthy of respect as a player.

Mchale did about as good a job as you can do with the roster we had.
The guy was an elite coach in the playoffs, no iffs nor butts about it.

Give him credit. The players love him, and he did a great job this year.
