You seriously forgot how the Rockets played in those years did ya? There's this dude name OLAJUWON. The point of the offense was to GET HIM THE BALL. And when we got KENNY SMITH, he was averaging 17 7. The only reason why Don Chaney won COACH OF THE YEAR is because Kenny orchestrated an unstoppable pick and roll with Otis Thorpe.
Season Age Tm Lg Pos G GS MP FG FGA FG% 3P 3PA 3P% FT FTA FT% ORB DRB TRB AST STL BLK TOV PF PTS 1990-91 25 HOU NBA PG 78 78 34.6 6.7 12.9 .520 0.6 1.7 .363 3.7 4.4 .844 0.5 1.6 2.1 7.1 1.4 0.1 3.0 1.7 17.7 1991-92 26 HOU NBA PG 81 80 33.8 5.3 11.2 .475 0.7 1.7 .394 2.7 3.1 .866 0.4 1.8 2.2 6.9 1.3 0.1 2.8 1.4 14.0 1992-93 27 HOU NBA PG 82 82 29.5 4.7 9.1 .520 1.2 2.7 .438 2.4 2.7 .878 0.3 1.6 2.0 5.4 1.0 0.1 2.0 1.3 13.0 1993-94 28 HOU NBA PG 78 78 28.3 4.4 9.1 .480 1.1 2.8 .405 1.7 2.0 .871 0.3 1.5 1.8 4.2 0.8 0.1 1.6 1.6 11.6 1994-95 29 HOU NBA PG 81 81 25.1 3.5 7.3 .484 1.8 4.1 .429 1.6 1.8 .851 0.3 1.6 1.9 4.0 0.9 0.1 1.5 1.3 10.4 1995-96 30 HOU NBA PG 68 56 23.8 3.0 6.8 .433 1.3 3.5 .382 1.3 1.6 .821 0.3 1.1 1.4 3.6 0.7 0.0 1.5 1.7 8.5 Career NBA 737 650 30.1 4.8 10.0 .480 0.9 2.3 .399 2.3 2.7 .829 0.4 1.6 2.0 5.5 1.0 0.1 2.2 1.6 12.8
STOP HATING ON KENNY. baahahahahaa! derek fisher, kenny smith, Lin needs to be surrounded by the right players and btw this is the same lame argument they said about wade and lebron, it's silly man you guys are on a role tonight
I think the Lin fans are lunatics. I bet they didn't even watch the game, they just DVR it and fast forward to when Lin is about to step in and SLOW MOTION when they pan to Lin on the bench. then they go play Call of Duty thinking the bad guys look like Kevin McHale.
If dominant players could not play together Lebron, Kobe, Shaq, Wade and a lot others would not have a ring or several rings. We would just send The Utah Jazz to the Olympics instead of assembling a team.
Russell Westbrook was ball dominant, yet Harden thrived in that system--sharing those duties. Chris Paul is a quarterback, he is not a scoring guard. You don't think Chris Paul is good enough to utilitize Harden's abilities to the maximum? Chris Paul makes players around him better, just like Harden has the capacity to make players around him better. You have two guys like that who can take the pressure off of each other, and you have a recipe for something special.
I apologize to the Call of Duty players on Clutchfans by saying that Lin fans play that game. They probably play Scrabble and think the word LIN should get more points than it should.
I grew up on scrabble, and I can totally seem them flipping out and getting mad as hell that L-I-N only earns them 3 points. But of course, in reality and on the court, 3's are awesome ... and it is one area that I do see Lin making drastic improvements in, in my internal speculations here. I really can see him becoming more of a deadly sniper from afar with time, but he really does need a lot of work, experience, and time to get there. I am patient and will be thrilled when he gets there! But until then, be ready for him to be critiqued all around, along with his teammates, as they all well should be critiqued.
that is why harden was playing the 6th man role in OKC yup he is not a scoring guard which is why he is only averaging almost 20 points a game... oh wait...
Time will tell everything....But does it matter? People judge him so quickly. They will still doubt him no matter what he does.
Chris paul was pretty much forced to score. He was the only one on the clippers able to create his own shot. Look at how the series with memphis turned out. Griffin or deandre jordan couldn't do jack.
So its Harden's fault when lin goes right, stops his dribble then tosses his famous jump pass out of bounds? He needs to perfect his handles if he wants to be a quarterback. Chris paul can go right, left, j you, and take it off the dribble on whoever just about whenever. You do realize Harden has the ball most of the time because he controls the ball better than jittery lin right? More times than not I here nonsense when my little nephew is over watching the game, asking me questions like why is he so scary or why did he just do a full circle in the paint then throw it to no one, whats wrong with him? I don't know but I would like to enjoy most games without receiving various text from people complaining about lins game. Quarterbacks are leaders, Jeremy needs to work on that left hand, a few go to moves, and learn to play fearless for the sake of us genuine rockets fans. We're not use to the timid play calvin, sleepy floyd, kenny, francis, dragic, and lowry were pretty aggressive and came to play whether they were doing good or just going through the motions, thinking back even miniature AB ran the point pretty fierce before he was shipped out. Hes not quite the play maker lin is but what does it matter if lin doesn't have any fire or command in him. At least Joe Johnson is confident even though hes a passive guy most of the time, with lin you get the best of worst worlds mentally.
Up until now the conversion has been civil. This is not. Just because one Lin fan compares Lin to the Jet, which isn't that outrageous, suddenly it becomes this witchhunt, mob rule, hate fest, moronic pat on the back: all Lin fans are dis or dat. Please learn not to over-generalize, appreciate fans and stop bringing down the quality of discourse.
Actually wasn't trying to hate on Kenny. I think he was serviceable. I'm not a bandwagoner. I watched every game and was at the Summit for almost half of them. Kenny was a very high percentage spot-up shooter. I do think that with the passage of time people have failed to remember how un-athletic Kenny Smith was. He simply couldn't create his own shot. I loved our offensive game-plan with Hakeem back in those days. Doesn't disguise the fact that Smith had some major holes in his game, and our PG situation only really improved once Cassell came onboard and we had a PG who could penetrate if the inside-out game was not working. Jeremy Lin will never be the shooter Smith was, but I'm willing to bet he will become better in most other facets of the game than Smith was.
