False. If the Rockets can win two championships with Kenny Smith, they can certainly win championships with Jeremy Lin. Just need the right pieces around him.
Interesting point. I have to say though, Lin missed out on some invaluable experience by not playing. Goodness, did Asik and Parsons put themselves on the map or what? They're ready for prime time, baby. They are without a doubt, penciled in at their positions for our Houston Rockets.
Lin is not the centerpiece. James Harden, Chandler Parsons, and Omar Asik have already proven to be more important players to the Rockets--than Lin is. Lin has some catching up to do, especially after missing out in the playoffs and having Beverley surprise us all with his play.
Guys Lins first season starting... if lin was 4th year starter or veteran i be worried... guys young...they all learning...
I agree with you that Lin is tradeable for the right superstar and and also that it's more Les than Morey. That's why I said 99.9% instead of 100%. My point was that there are other factors (doesn't matter whether it's viewed as good or bad, just that they are there) that make Lin less likely to be traded than just the basketball aspects of it.
okay, so with that small sample size, you're going to make the assumption that he's on the trajectory to being one of the most clutch 3 point shooters in NBA history. okay, that sounds about right.
Nobody said he was the centerpiece. But he is already an average to slightly above average PG with a high ceiling. We've seen what he is capable of with NY. That stretch shows his potential, given the right conditions. Lin doesn't need to be the centerpiece. He is more than capable of being the PG on a championship team, as long as we've got the right pieces around him. As for Beverley, he appears to have the makings of a good backup. I am not nearly as enamored with him as many on this board. Lin has quite more upside.
Kenny was the best 3 point shooter in Rockets history. Plus he is significantly a better ball handler than Lin. Anyone remember Kenny turning the ball over or failing to get the ball to Dream? Kenny smith was the #6 pick in the draft. Plus was the most steady PG in Rockets history lately. <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/H6pdmBjDUjA" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
Not only that, but my goodness the dude shot 48% from the field and near 45% from tres. In the playoffs, his 3PT% remained around the same with FG% dipping to around 43%, but my goodness.
Parsons is a Soph in the league, he has very little experience also. Yet parsons is on a entirely different level then lin. wait did you really just compare Kenny to Lin? LOL i've seen it all.

I'm still trying to figure out how some Rocket fans keep talking about CP3, a superstar, elite, ball dominant, high scoring PG, as if he would actually be a good fit playing along someone like James Harden, a ball dominant, high scoring SG who TRAMPLES ALL OVER PG duties. Do you guys plan on only fielding 2 players on the court? Because there sure as hell wouldn't be room for anyone else to ever touch the ball.
All of you acting like it's so crazy that I compared Lin to Kenny Smith. You do realize that despite his high shooting percentages, he was only contributing around 4 FG's per game (averaging around 11 points) and 4 assists per game during the Rockets glory years? Aside from the rare games where he went crazy from 3, the Rockets were really missing out from the PG position during his tenure. That's why the emergence of Sam Cassell was so important to the team. Are you seriously telling me Lin is not capable of contributing a heck of alot more than 11 points and 4 assists?
