It depends on what you want. Chain drives are the cheapest and most common. The downside is they are noisier, and may need adjusting periodically. They cost around 150-200. Screw drives are quieter but do cost more...300-400. Be sure and get the right size motor for your door(s). Installing them is a 2 man job though I have done it by myself if you have a couple of tall step ladders. I have no idea how much someone would charge you but it would be about 1.5 hours labor if you know what you are doing.
Got one bought and installed for $269. Came with wall thing, two remotes and those sensors. 2 year warranty covers all parts and labor. Remembered the name of the company: Spectrum Overhead Door. They still have the same deal going on. (281) 748-9542 They're based in Katy. Tell them you saw this on Angie's List, as it's intended to be a deal for Angie's List members.
If you have a attached garage go belt drive for sure and they run about $230 with battery back up. If you just want the cheapest which is chain drive then its about $130. If you buy at the hardware stores and get them to install is around $120. It's not hard to install your self with the instructions if you are bit handy and few tools.
I recently bought a kit from Lowes for about $150 It came with 2 remotes, button for the garage, plus a wireless keypad for the outside. Had it professionally installed for $100
Are you telling me there are people in this world that manually lift their garage door open and shut?
Reminds me of how one of my exes would swing the car door open and hit the car parked next to us. Happened probably 5 times in our 18 month relationship.
