I know all the talks about we should get CP3 or Howard this summer because they will make us a championship contender, actually they won't.

CP3 is way too ball dominated and if you think Harden has problem sharing the ball with Lin, it will be a bigger problem if we signed CP3. Harden is our go to guy, CP3 is Clippers' go to guy. If CP3 is signed, who is the go to guy, AKA #1 option?

Howard, while he is a beast and dominating the paint, he is also a liability. He is shooting a rock at the line. You can easily give up a 20 points lead or simply lost the game in Q4 because the other teams will hack him. If I am the coach of the other team, I will start hacking at 6 minutes regardless the score. It is automatic 10 easy points. You can bench him when this started, but it defeated the purpose of having him if he cannot play at crunch time. Not to mention he is not much an upgrade for Asik.

Then there is this thing call Chemistry. Chemistry is the most important aspect in a team sport, yet most fans don't understand the important of it. They think if you put a group of people with great stats together and add up their stats and that will be team stats. Unfortunately, it doesn't work like that. If it work like this, then the mathematicians should be running the game not players. Chemistry takes time to build up and it requires everyone to understand their roles. Miami was a great example. They didn't win the championship on year 1 when they put the big 3 together. It took them a year to work out all the issues. The Rockets current core (Asik, Parson, Harden and Lin) has great chemistry and need to stick together.

With that being said and here is my take of what need to be done.

McHale - He is here to start. I wish we get a better coach. As long as McHale is still coach, we won't win a championship.

C - Asik is a beast and without Asik, this team has 0 defense. Unfortunately Asik cannot play 48 per game and stay injury free forever. We need a backup center. We needs to give some minute to Ohlbrecht.

PF - We need to sign an all star who can post and knock down the mid-range. I like Big All and Millsap. TJones/TMo/Smith as backup.

SF - Parson/Delfino. Garcia if we can get him cheap.

SG/PG - Harden, Lin and Beverley. I know many of you think Lin should be traded and Beverley should be starting PG. This is nonsense. Lin is doing just fine and he is the only true PG we have. Both Beverley and Harden are terrible running as point. Harden should save his energy on scoring and pick his shots. He should aim for scoring instead of drawing the foul. There is no reason why Harden cannot be in the 50-40-90 club.

Lastly, NBA is a business and needless to say, they are here to make money. Just because they have cap room, it doesn't meant they will blow it for no reason. Each dollar saved is an dollar earned.

Go with whoever has the bigger balls.

    And ****ting bricks too.

Not so sure. Balls have been getting pretty sticky with this lot. Not sure if any amount of chemistry would work, esp. viagra. They're young, with experience they'll learn how to do it without sticking.

Good point. PF problem solved. I hope he's not gonna wear those short shorts.

With Viagra he can beast all night!

50-40-90 Club? That's exclusive and a step up from the establishments he's been frequenting!

Don't blow your cap to make money? Yo' pimp gonna bust a cap in yo' azz!

If James Harden is the only All-Star on the team, we're not a championship contender. It's that simple.

Are there questions about the fit with both CP3 and Howard? Sure. But they at least give you the chance. The roster you described sends you on the fast track to become Denver South. Chemistry doesn't win titles. All-Stars do. I'd rather take the chance, even if there are questions, than cement our next 10 years in 50-55 win, first-or-second-round exit purgatory.

The biggest question mark is whether or not we can enough maintain cap space to sign a max FA next offseason if we do not sign one this offseason. That plays the largest factor in whether or not we will blow the cap space "for no reason".

    Trade Lin

Trade Lin. Not because he is not a good PG. He averaged 13.4pt 6.1a 3rb 0.4blk 1.6stl 2.9to in the regular season. Not bad for his first 82 games.

I think Houston is not ready for players that are outside your stereotypical expectations of what an NBA player should be like. The world has changed and like many in the US, Houston is still stuck in the 1970s and still think things are like how it was.

Just let Lin be free and sign top proven PGs and be done with it.

Houston will do very well with Harden and another superstar with or without Lin.

And in this most devoted of football towns, Lin also faces a phenomenon with which fans are all too eager to subscribe: the backup quarterback syndrome – represented, in this case, by midseason acquisition Patrick Beverley, whose defensive intensity was valuable down the stretch, and Aaron Brooks, the former Rockets fan favorite who returned to Houston for the stretch drive.

Imagine what'd happen if every poster started a new thread to give their opinion on what needs to be done going forward as opposed to the previous guy's opinion... not to pretty, eh?

I can see it being a problem, something needs to be done going forward. I have a good idea on what should be done. It's off topic though so I'll start a new thread.

You're a moron if you wouldn't want CP3 based on both him and Harden being ball dominant.

Harden did just fine with Westbrook AND Durant. If anything having a ball dominant guard will HELP Harden by taking the ball out of his hands so he can't ISO. We NEED a PG who can keep Harden in check when he's playing like a baboon, and CP3 is that guy.

If you notice, Patrick Beverley handles the ball a lot more than Jeremy does when he's in the game. Part of this is because Harden trusts Beverley more and Beverley is more confident playing with Harden.

Houston isn't one of the most diverse cities in the country or anything.

CP3 had a very, very talented team this year, and how far did he get in the playoffs?

Add a star PF, a good backup Center, a few upgrades to the bench and we're good to go. A bunch of tools on here wanting to blow up the team for CP3 and Howard with Harden. They have no clue that championship teams have great chemistry moreso than star power.

You make a run at CP3 if there appears to be an opening. If not, Al Jefferson is the next target and if he isn't available, stand pat unless Aldrigde or Love become available via trade.

A strong NO to Josh Smith and a HELL NAW to the Dwightmare since both are going to want a stupid contract and won't make nearly as much difference as people claim they would.

We wouldn't blow up the team. CP3 is a FA. If it were to be a sign and trade, I doubt we would part with Parsons.

The Clips have a star PG, a star PF, and the deepest bench in the NBA, yet they couldn't get past the 2nd round.

To win a chip you need star power, star power, AND MORE STAR POWER, especially with the Miami Heat standing in the way.
