I did give him credit though. After game 5 I posted he did pretty good. It still doesn't change the fact that AB is still AB. You remember way back when, a ton of us were wanting him benched in favor of Lowry BEFORE Lowry learned how to shoot from outside? None of those reasons have gone away. He is still the same type of player he was back then, maybe with a heavy dosage of humble pie now after his journeyman walk where no one really wanted him.
Who give a crap if it's Fisher. the point is Brooks over Fisher is one of our biggest mismatches. It's working and it will be a HUGE reason we advance (if we advance) in this series.
I'm just getting pissed off with how people are downplaying Brooks because "he chucks and can't play D". Do you guys not see how vital he is in THIS SERIES? Just the fact that he is able to get in the paint at will is HUGE.
He is exploiting a mismatch he is SUPPOSED to exploit. That isn't anything to mail home about IMO. Why make a big deal about something he is paid to do? Now if he starts playing D and hitting his shots, then come back and talk to us about making a big deal. If he wasn't blowing past FISHER at will, we would be raging at him. I could flip this around and ask you, "Why are you hyping him up for something he is suppose to be doing?" Would you congratulate a kid for knowing how to spell his name correctly? Not unless he was mentally handicapped.
Something praise worthy is Asik sinking in his FT's despite been a 56% shooter from the line. Something praise worthy is Garcia's D on Durant which was completely unexpected. AB blowing by an old ass, slow ass Fisher is not praise worthy IMO.
Brooks should solely be the guy that comes of the bench just when Fisher is in the game...Fisher cant stay in front of him, and AB is a blur towards the rim... The Bench should be AB, Lin and Smith/or Jones tonight... The Starters should be Bev, Harden, Asik, Parsons, and Garcia
Is is prasieworthy, when your initial starting pg couldnt it to Fisher. Brooks ahs also made passes that the other pg's havent htis off-season. His court vision is the best of our guards.
Hope he practiced, cause guess what they will do if they are down at the end of the half and 2nd half...
Brooks is a lot faster than Lin IMO. Like I said, this is a mismatch given to him. He HAS to exploit it. If he didn't, it would be a serious issue. Are you serious about Brooks passing? Lin is by far a superior passer than AB. Best court vision? I really can't take this post seriously.
AB made some crazy passes last game.. one even looked like a curve ball. hes a maestro with the ball, really. lin is a clumsy handler compared to him
Hey you guys want to keep thinking that AB is some maestro and good PG, that's fine. Enjoy your delusions. AB is what he is and there is reason so many people wanted a Lowry who COULDN'T SHOOT starting over him. Can he be a great change of pace spark plug off the bench? Yes, but that is all he will ever amount to IMO.
dude chill. his defense has improved and so has his decision making. you're not being objective here. hes more crafty and obviously more experienced than Lin. If you can't see that then you have obvious bias
Look you want to put him on a pedestal for going against Fisher, feel free to. Don't count me in your delusions. I look at AB and I see the same player we shipped out; undersized, no defense, chucker, speedy, SG trying to play PG. Beverly and Lin are both better PG's.
Right now, healthy veteran bodies are in demand for Houston. With Delfino out and none of our traditional 4's hardly playing in our small ball OKC regime, our bench would be non existent. While AB is what he is, he is a badly needed body right now and am thankful we picked him up.
I agree. He was an insurance policy that turned out to be a great investment by Morey. Can you imagine putting Harden at point to spell Bev instead? O_O
Brooks' style of play is valuable in the playoffs because he can take anyone off the dribble and put a lot of pressure on the opposing defense. Him and Patrick are running circles around the OKC backcourt. And who says AB can't pass? <iframe width="420" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/vRA7p22F9OI" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
AB would get by most point guards in this league. he's that quick and tight with his handle. its not just because he's toasting fisher.
And then what? He's too small to consistently penetrate. That's why the majority of his shots are long range except for that circus floater he has. He primarily uses his speed to get open for a long shot. Whatever though, I am done with this discussion. He's a good backup that is paying off for us and I am happy about that.
