um... alright.... Still confused on the question, then 3 quotes? Am I missing me being the butt of a joke? Do Not Comprehend-o
Sigh... its the Chinese little dick syndrome rearing its ugly head again. But why target the indians? The only indian that's hung is the great Khali. Chinese need to rethink their priorities. But in all seriousness, is the bird flu going to their heads? There is no need for such agressive behavior, it'll only cause problems.
You mean the same "invasion" that Mao called off even though it was a no contest in favor of the People's Army?
This article is even more mystifying why the PRC is doing this. [rquoter] In China, a Foreign Ministry spokeswoman denied that Chinese troops had crossed into Indian territory and said the dispute would be resolved peacefully and through appropriate channels. “I would also like to point out that China and India are neighbors and their borders haven’t been demarcated,” said the spokeswoman, Hua Chunying, at a news conference last week in Beijing. “As such, it is difficult to avoid this or that kind of problem.” On Thursday, the online edition of People’s Daily ran an editorial that urged China to continue friendly relations with India, but said China should not “indulge” India’s “bad habits,” and in particular the “lies” of the Indian news media. Though Indian and Chinese politicians have not described the reasons for the dispute, Indian news reports have stated that Chinese officials have demanded that Indian authorities demolish some newly constructed bunkers and reduce patrols in the area. ... It’s an inexplicable provocation,” said Gen. Vasantha R. Raghavan, a former top Indian military commander who once commanded the region in dispute. “There is something happening inside China which is making the military act in an irrational manner.” Trade between China and India is growing rapidly. Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid of India is expected to visit Beijing next week, and Prime Minister Li Keqiang of China is scheduled to visit India three weeks later on his first official trip abroad since taking office in March. Indian and Chinese officials have emphasized that relations remain friendly, and Indian officials say that Mr. Khurshid still intends to go to Beijing as planned. But there are growing calls in India for both trips to be canceled. General Raghavan said the dispute was likely to accelerate improving military ties between India and the United States — a development that is not likely to be welcomed by China. [/rquoter] There really seems to be no reason for this other than possibly a local PRC commander was irate over increased Indian military activity and decided to make a statement. I would be shocked if this dispute wasn't resolved soon and peacefully. Neither country want a war since both already have more pressing regional tensions. India militarily allied with the US would be a nightmare to the PRC considering how paranoid many in the PRC are about US containment through Japan, SK and ASEAN countries. India would not want a war on two sides with the PRC and Pakistan allied. Besides those as the article notes trade is increasing between the two countries and both countries know that the key to stability in their gigantic populations is continued economic development. On top of that both countries have a geopolitical interests to rival the US.
From what I read, there was some confusion as to where the border line for that platoon of the Chinese Army, but that seems to me very very unlikely given the consequence. It could be a planned move on the Chinese part to test India's preparedness. What's really interesting or concerning is the reaction out of it. There were protests in India where Chinese flags were burned. China kinda gets a taste of what's feel like burning Japanese flags. Nobody seems to like China as a neighbour these days, but that can be said about many other countries too. Anyways, I am in a position that peaceful rise of China has to stand on good relationships with her neighbors first.
Probably just pushing their boundaries and seeing how far they can go. Kinda like North Korea did. Except the difference being North Korea is a global joke of a country and never taken seriously. China on the other hand...
Given that the leadership of the PRC is fairly pragmatic I have a hard time seeing this as them just pushing their boundaries to see if they can. If this area had some sort of strategic value like the Spratlys maybe but it sounds like there really isn't much there.
This...its just flexing its muscle trying to intimidate Indians.. No doubt that a resolution will resolve some of these tensions, but must say quite alarming that China would mess around with India considering both countries have been friendlies for a while.
The kinda described the area as desolate, and just farmed by occasional harvesters...The Chinese are just getting bored, and looking for new things to focus on...such as shaping borders and enforcing territorial control...
Why blame China when India started it? Anyway, it is done. The fuss is resolved. Of course, nobody likes this kind of news.
I am worried more about the hold time for tech support because most of the technicians would not report to work because of the war.
