People kneejerk and claim Lin is mentally weak because the team is struggling and he is on the bench with an injury. They kneejerk when Lin plays poorly and claim he is not good enough to be a starter. What reason is there for a "Rocket" fan to accuse Beverley of playing dirty and playing for his own stats? Especially considering the fact that nothing even remotely suggests he possesses these traits? There is a major difference between making the claim that a player lacks passion and mental toughness, and the claim that a player is unethical and amoral.
Just for your reference, people are not as nice as you though to Jeremy. Saying a player is intentionally pretending or using an injury as excuse to avoid playing for the team is not about toughness or knee jerking. It is questioning a player's work ethics.
First of all, your bolded statement and your supporting quote directly contradicts with each other. That quote questions his mental toughness, that's completely different to work ethic. That quote reinforced what I said earlier. Second of all, I never said people are nice to Jeremy. We all know for a lot of people it's about what you have done lately. Nobody here is nice to any of our players if they are not performing the way they are expected to perform. I said that very clearly, hence "kneejerking". Patrick Beverley did nothing but perform way above expectations throughout the series. He has done absolutely nothing to warrant being called a "dirty player" or a player who plays for stats. Anybody who even makes that claim is not a Rocket fan, because these accusations are not claiming that Beverley lacks passion, or is mentally weak, or doesn't work hard enough. These accusations are claiming that Beverley is an unethical and selfish person. I am not saying that it's acceptable for people to accuse Lin of being mentally weak. However, I find it far more disturbing for people to accuse a player of being unethical (especially when said player has done nothing to warrant these accusations), than it is for people to question a players' passion and toughness. So as it stands, Lin may have higher quantity of criticism, but when it comes to the actual content some of the things said about Lin pales in comparison to those said about other players.
The bolder part says he is scared and the sentence preceding it is saying he is scared so he tries to avoid game. These are two different things. While I do not agree with you on your assessment on how these two players are treated (I guess our ignore lists are different) , I do agree that no player should be treated this way. This is a bigger point. What bothers me more is that people make false claims in an assertive manner. If we stick to zero tolerance for misrepresentation of facts, nothing you said or I said would happen.
I dont agree. Yofs were only annoying when they didnt know how to speak english well but even then they were entertaining. And yao was top 3 center in the league. Lin is just an average not even top 15 pg and his fans think he is entitled to more than how the rockets play him.
Or find your own Lin forum where you guys can line up and suck his proverbial dick all day talking about how good he is and how bad everyone who plays more minutes than him is. This is a ROCKETS forum. We have no room for ****ty fans who place the success of an average player above the success of the team.
Exactly. Even Yao had his own forum and all the YOFs flocked there. I'm sure one of you LOFs have knowledge in making websites. Go make your own. Ah yes, I remember Yao's fan site/forum now. yaomingmania.com. it was pretty big for the Yao Ming fans.
In games 4 & 5 our point guards committed TWO turnovers total, per game. Hope Lin's return does not mess this up.
I think what happens is that people (especially Rockets fans) have a warped sense if reality when they look at Lin. They see him miss a wide open 3 and all of a sudden he can't shoot. He makes a bad pass and all of a sudden he is turnover prone. Look at the stats and say those things- stats don't lie. With Beverley it's the opposite. They see him make a great block or steal and suddenly he's an awesome defender, even though he lets Jackson and Fisher roam wherever they want and get off open look shots. He shoots a good percentage for a few games and all of a sudden his 40% FG for the season is forgotten. At the end of the day, Lin had a great first season with the Rockets and helped us get to the playoffs. He's had plenty of games where he's excelled and shown superstar potential. He had 9 games with double digit assists this season- a great indicator of what a great point guard he is. He's had plenty of games where he's exploded offensively and was unstoppable. You LOH's can't discount that but still do. Beverley has proven that he can be a valuable asset to the team and I agree that in some instances plays better with Harden- mostly b/c he can just dribble the ball up and hand off to Harden. With Lin, we expect him to do more b/c that's simply not Linsanity and he should. He has way too much talent to simply be a non factor. At this point, who do you think teams would covet more? I think any GM would pick Lin over Beverley. Beverley has been playing really well overall- better than any of us expected (except for Badlee who made the initial call) and as Rockets fans we should be thrilled. He isn't a dirty player at all but a guy who hustles and gambles on defense and sometimes gets burned bc he overcommits or fouls too often. That's just the facts. He isn't as good as Lin but as a Rockets fan I am thrilled to have both on the team and we are a better team for it. If you disagree with that then you've let your hate for Lin overtake your love for the Rockets. This is a happy time to be a Rockets fan.
Then that means we should package Beverley up with someone like Delfino and get a nice star based on his super trade value whereas Lin is almost untradable.
So, if I disagree with you that Beverley is a better starter for this team than Lin, then I hate Lin? No. Listen, I like Lin. I think he improved well throughout the year. I think he is above average on defense and offense. But I also think that Beverley has a huge impact on the court without the basketball, and that the Rockets desperately need that on the perimeter and next to Harden. Also, Lin is not untradeable. I doubt the Rockets trade him (especially because of all the overseas money), and I don't even really want them to (except for the consideration that the LOFs would leave the GARM) -- but, from a basketball perspective, he is not as essential as the Lin fans think he is.
Compared to his Linsanity moment, Jeremy has under performed over this past season. So i don't see where all this we should give Jeremy as many chances as possible garbage is coming from. If it were anybody else under performing, they would have been sat way more than Jeremy has. Beverley has performed at a consistent pace the entire time he has been with the team. With Jeremy, you never know what you are going to get.
What are you talking about???? Can you not even pass elementary comprehension? Where da hell did I say that it's okay to say those things about Beverley?? Was it in my last post??? And you do realize that pretty much everyone knew that that's what you were going to say, right? lol.
Wow ed, spoken like a true LOF. If all of this is true then why isn't he starting tonight? If Lin is a better fit for Harden then why isn't he automatically back in the starting line-up? Don't say because he is coming off of injury because many players come back to start in their normal positions.
