Has anyone flown this aircraft. How are the seats compared to a 777? I am talking about economy class. From what I have read, apparently the legroom in a380 is bad.
It depends on the airline. I've flown Lufthansa and Emirates and didn't have any problems with the seats. You might be lucky and end up like this guy http://imgur.com/a/wzWdI
Lufthansa. I doubt I am going to be that lucky. 1st class is pretty nice on any flight. I went to hawaii first class on continental. It was night and day from flying economy.
I've flown Quantas several times and it was nice for economy. Legroom has never been a problem for me though.
yeah it depends on the airline -- they configure things differently. Korean Air and Singapore have the fewest seats (around 400) and Lufthansa and Air France pack in the most (over 500). Lufthansa is the only one that flies into Houston now, but Emirates is going to launch service once they get their extended length A380s. They would have done it sooner but they would be weight restricted on the current size. I don't particularly think the A380 is a nice looking plane (looks like a bloated whale), but it's big.
you're probably talking about business class, which is commonly referred to as "first class" in the US. True first class is only found on a 3-tier service place (first, business, coach/economy). I've only flown true first class a couple times (both in Asia) and it's quite nice. Of course, it's still having to fly commercial, though...
These photos are EK's business class on the A380? Wow! It's a HUGE improvement over their 777 business class. I think those might be first class and the guy didn't realize it. Emirates won't launch A380s to IAH until sometime next year, if then.
I haven't flown yet but two friends of mine have. One flew on Singapore Air from LA to Singapore and back. He said that the upstairs, economy seats, were better than the downstairs economy. Another friend flew on Quantas from LA to Sydney and back and said that upstairs and downstairs were about the same in economy.
I've seen several on the ground at Singapore and LAX and I agree. From a distance you don't realize there is anything particular about them except for the massive size. The 747 just has a classic profile that is unmistakable.
Yes, in fact, I flew one the other day. The pilot was a bit sick from some bad fish going around the plane (thank God I ordered the lasagna). Anyway, a Dr. on board said his co-pilot was also sick also and had already been taken to the back (I noticed 2 flight attendants dragging some tall guy to the back, but we assumed he was a basketball player because he was so tall ...and black). Anyway, it was a pleasure to fly. It lands a bit rough though. And yes, I am serious.
