you know, it's really sad that people are judging and defining him based on 1 bad playoff game. his first ever. NOT even a whole series, just 1 game.

if harden was judged based on his play on the biggest stage, nba finals against miami heat, he would've never been on this team. go look up his stats in that series. go look up game 1.

the point is, thank god morey didn't define harden based on that series, and now we have him. don't judge lin based on 1 playoff game either, but rather look at his body of work over the past 82 games.

actually, it was ranked by nba.com, based on advanced stats.

    http://www.nba.com/hoop/the_devil_is__the_dtails_2013_02_05.html

look at the names on this list. people will still look at it and say "nah jeremy doesn't belong on there".

OMER ASIK, ROCKETS CENTER, +310.64: Asik, who has the NBA's second-best defensive RAPM (+4.9), is showing the world that he is worth every penny of that 3-year, $25 million contract he signed with the Rockets last summer. Asik may be able to win both the DPOY and Most Improved awards after seeing his minutes double to 30 minutes per game this year.

JEREMY LIN, ROCKETS POINT GUARD, +137.05: With James Harden taking the bigger offensive load, Lin's D has been key in giving Houston a PG who provides high-pressure defense at all times, ranking second in steals. His court IQ and quickness are some of the most underrated aspects of Lin's overall game.

Are u trolling or serious? He's still the same player and still plays the same way. You didn't see it before, what makes you think you'll see it now? He plays a different style of D then bev, but that doesn't mean it's less effective in terms of contribution to the team.

The eye test strikes again. Everyone gets fooled by "energy" and "being active" which is why people thought Toney Douglas was some defensive stopper.

Beverley is a pest man to man but he plays poor positional defense. Even last game he lost his man time after time being out of position, go rewatch that game. Rockets were just lucky Martin and the rest were bricking wide open looks all game.

You are not a Rocket fan.

This is probably something a non-Rocket fan would say about a player they don't like, but anyone who has watched how Beverley responded so far in this series should be proud of what he has done.

Jeremy is leveraging Omer Asik's defense by funneling his opponents properly. It is BB IQ. Beverly is already amazing by himself. Think about how our PG's defense could be if Beverly learns how to work with bigs together in defense. Defensively, I am worried about PF and SG.

Beverly is very good at getting around PnR in my eye test. He lost his position at times but I hope he will get better at this. There is no reason he should not. Can Rockets become an elite defensive team? That would really cool!

Those RAPM stats that the author used in his calculations were released a month into the season.

Are there any stats that are recent that indicate Lin is a great defender? Serious question.

    Really?

So people consistently accuse Jeremy Lin of playing dirty and for personal gain?

Bevs been great. But Lin has given us great games, better games, but those of you knocking Lin here never give him any credit. Screw credit, you guys knock him at every chance then when someone gets sick of the hate and responds, he is labeled a deity worshipping non Rockets fan.

Ill tell you what, there is something in the zeitgeist that has made it popular to hate on Lin like sheep and it has been that way for some time now. But can you guys turn down the hate a bit during what I hope be a historic comeback victory against the number one seed. I swear you guys are so blinded.

And straight up, it seems to me that most Lin haters have no idea about basketball in general, what constitutes good defense, what Harden needs in a pg, or even what the role of a good pg is. Lin has the size, the speed, the work ethic, the youth, the upside, the body of evidence to be a solid to great pg for our team, and you guys get stuck in his one bad game in the playoffs and give him zero credit for any good he's done. Forget 38 pts or shooting 40% from 3 for 3 months, he could've scored 50 and shot 50% from 3, and you'd be doing the same thing. And you know it. Let's cut that out.

Bev is awesome. Love what he brings us. Those who call Bev dirty or say he plays for personal gain are outright 100% wrong.

Doesn't excuse the aggressive hate for our boy Lin.

Lins been said to have no heart, a sham, a fraud, to have proven nothing in his career, average at best, better off as a 3rd string guard, that we're better without him, a coward, a bench player, weak.. Well, I guess that's okay and not offensive cuz someone called Bev names.

Ah, so according to you because people questioned Lin's mental toughness and playing ability, it's equivalent to people questioning Beverley's personal integrity and character.

Because someone who claims Lin is mentally weak is as bad as someone who claims Beverley plays for stats. Someone who claims Lin is at best a bench player is as bad as someone who claims Beverley is a dirty player who tries to injure others.

I guess it's okay for "Rocket fans" to call Beverley a dirty player despite the fact that he did absolutely nothing wrong but play hard and aggressive.

Please don't act like Jeremy Lin is the only person getting undeserved criticism.

Beverly is Jarret Jack, Lindsey Hunter type of energy player with Bobby Jackson as his upside.

so calling someone no heart, a sham, a fraud, weak.. is not an attack to his personal integrity and character? and its just merely questioning his mental toughness?

Don't you know that an attack to Lin by a many vets here equates to "real rocket fans" and "fairly criticized" while an attack to any other player equates to "LOF". That's just the way it is.

    Just ask yourselves this.

Which fans have been here longer and not just came on these forums because of one player and spouts when said player is being mistreated by the ones who been here for a while.

    Thanks

As far as I'm aware, Lin is called a "fraud" or a "sham" because people don't think his talent level warrants the media attention. They don't think he is good enough as a player to warrant that type of attention.

The only unfair criticism of Lin's character that I'm aware of is being called "no heart", which is a direct result of him not playing so far in the playoffs due to people questioning the legitimacy of his injury.

Do you think that's equivalent to Patrick Beverley being called dirty and playing for stats?
