Then I don't understand what you're asking Far as people not being able to think of anything else except ramen and chow mein when they think Asian American, that's not true
Really? 43 pages of this? It seems like every Rockets fan ought to be able to agree we're better off with all of our players healthy. I can't believe there is 43 pages of debate about that.
Beverly is a Bobby Jackson, Jarret Jack, Kenyon Dooling type of high-energy great-defense PG. And JLin is a Mike Bibby, Dragic, George Hill type of play-making PG, who still needs work on a consistent jumper as well as ball handling and passing. Bev's upside is Bobby Jackson, though one might hope he get into a Sam Cassell. Lin's upside is Tony Parker/Stockton. Bev is best as a bench player, unless he is on Miami's with LBJ/Wade or on the championship teams of Lakers with Kobe/Shaq or Kobe/Gasol/Odom where the PG has no play making duty. Until then, Lin is the best option as a 2nd play maker on this Rockets team, unless one believes that there be no such need because it's sufficient to have Harden ISOs on the team. Lin starts and Bev subs in, they complement to each other well.
Joh Stockton?? How can you say that with a straight face. Stockton was one of the greatest pure PG's of alltime . His playing style was tottaly different to lin and not remotely close.Plus Stockton had an Automatic shot.
Bleacher report...... You can pretty much find anything you want from them... At least have some decency to cite a credible source.
What's the big deal? Houston has two good Point Guards and that's great! Lin and Beverly each has their Pros and Cons and they complement each other. They all have great upsides and as a fan we should expect them to succeed in the league. End of Story. For those who tried to bash Lin from the point of contract value, in comparison to Chandler Parsons, or Beverly's contracts, your arguments are simply WEAK. Chandler Parsons is a steal, Patrick Beverly is a steal. There is no doubt about that. We have a great GM who is good at picking up undrafted and 2nd rounders but you can not expect him to get bargains on every player he signs. Even compared to other average PG who makes $8 mm, Lin's contract is not "ridiculous" in any sense. We all agree Lin's contract is inflated by his popularity in Asia and all the marketing and ad revenue, etc. The player himself probably contributes what a $5 mm average guard would contribute. However, the Rockets owner is more than willing to pays him $3 mm more for that marketing premium (pure business decision), that $3 mm could turn into multiple folds. That's called great investment. There is nothing wrong with that. So when fans make evaluation and management make evaluations, it's totally different story. Simply put, as long as Lin brings the performance of a $5 mm Point Guard and bring in more than $3 mm cash in business, you wouldn't see him traded
Yeah, it's mind boggling that some fans actually hope their starting PG not healthy enough to play in the playoffs, and actually believe that a guy who has not been playing the whole season will help the team more, and have better chemistry with the team more.
Making a big deal from a 1.9 pts difference per 100 possessions is meaningless. About the playoff stats, how can someone draw a conclusion from one game, the first playoff game of lin's career? Not to mention he did a solid job in the second game until he got hurt. Stats won't lie. But at least use them smartly.
You just dismissed a perfectly legit stat because it was from Bleacher Report. Now you want to talk about something being "statistically significant"? Get off your high horse.
Sorry, but posting this vid of game 3. It shows Jeremy clearly in pain. Why Jeremy was put back in the game when Beverley got in foul trouble is beyond me. McHale should have put Brooks in. Thanks to j017823 for her fancams. <iframe width="560" height="315" src="http://www.youtube.com/embed/yaOKEOnWhgo" frameborder="0" allowfullscreen></iframe>
how does this response even make any sense? the stat is NOT legit because it's not statistically significant. there's no high horsing here. or maybe you don't know what that means? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Statistical_significance
I shouldn't have said that. I apologize. But Stats needs to be interpreted with care. Drawing conclusion without at least checking the variance is Basically crap. It is STATS 101. A difference of 1 is significant if the standard deviation is like 0.3 but it is not significant if the standard deviation is 10. I will try to pull the stats myself when I have time.
I should not have said what I said about you and I apologize for that. I did explain what I mean there. I did not dismiss it simply because it is Bleacher report. I explained why it is a crap article. For starters , google two sample test and you will see why it is very dangerous to draw a conclusion the way that article does. I am not saying the conclusion is definitely wrong though. I need to check the variance at least to see if it is correct. Right now, I would say we could not draw any conclusion from that difference in average number alone.
I would not trust any article that does not list the variance when it is trying to draw a conclusion from a sample average.
