I think the point I was trying to make was missed, but no matter. I was talking about a very small subset, not all women in general. As an aside, is it really a downer if you never find someone who doesn't share your love of the Rockets? So what? As long as your S.O. is happy to let you do the things you enjoy, isn't that all that matters? Finding a fan is just a bonus.
My significant other is a big fan of the Rockets, thank god, and like me, she has particular players she cheers for. Her favorite player used to be Luis Scola, as was mine. (Viva Scola!!) Now that Luis is exiled to the pitiful Suns, she's leaning towards Chandler Parsons, but hasn't settled on a "favorite" yet. Sounds like a regular fan to me. What's her sex got to do with anything? It just makes it more fun celebrating a win, an activity I've spent years encouraging. Bring us another win to cheer, Rockets! Heck, a post-victory celebration with the chick in the pic would be quite groovy, HP!
so, can you make it to Game 6. I'm making an 19 hour in-and-out roundtrip for that game. Leaving Denver at 2pm Friday, flying out of Houston at 9am. I don't think I will be going to sleep until I get in my taxi to the airport at 7am. It ain't that bad. That's how long it takes me to smoke a brisket,,,is the way I'm looking at it.
I can't, but I'm deeply envious. I hope you have good seats. Heck, having any kind of seat with unobstructed sightlines tomorrow night would be amazing. Bring Lady Luck along with you, HeyPartner!
All I know is ever since I've moved up north and really got into the sport of Hockey, I've never seen so many female sports fans for a sport than I have for Hockey. For all the Blackhawks games I've been to, female fans pack the arena up. I see it all the time on twitter also. They seem to be more for the team than just individual players.
Not even just Lin, but I know many more lebron and kobe d-riders. Makes me sick. Females I can understand, but dudes that do this? SMH
Sweet. Scola was our favorite too. And like your's mine is seriously leaning towards Parsons...wonder why? One thing about the misses is she likes the/our blue collar guys and one cute guy outside the Rockets, Wade...ugh. I might add she is still a huge fan Shane...I just like his singing. Anyway, anything to get followers is damn ok with me. Want to follow Lin, cool. Want to follow the Beard, fine. All us Rockets fans ask is that you don't crap on the other Rockets to promote your man. So come on girls, love you some ROCKETS!!!!!
OT, but ever notice when people are self conscious talking about their own weightlifting especially (or are making fun of others'), they might reference it in kind of a half mocking tone? Sometimes this is accompanied by pantomiming whatever prototype movement represents lifting in their head, & I've noticed a pattern where men & women each have their respective lifts to illustrate: Women generally do the phantom simultaneous lateral bicep curls (sometimes with a sarcastic "grr!"), while men for some reason act out a kind of over exaggerated super wide grip bench, usually at a decline.
Athletic girls that wear caps >>>>>>>> I actually know a quite a few girls that are "sports fans" and enjoy watching sports, but I have found to prefer the ones who don't care about (professional) sports much. I much prefer working out/doing sports with a girl than watching sports with her and I've met not a single women who I actually enjoyed watching basketball with -- and basketball is the only sport I care about, really. It's just too much of a distraction. Focusing on the game is borderline impossible. I could watch a game on double speed and pick up twice as much as I do watching with a girl.
I've been contemplating how to respond to this. 1. I was a basketball fan long before I was a "Hayesfan" 2. Once I choose a team to root for... other than my hometown teams, which I feel like I was born to cheer for... I don't change my support. Now I will follow the team where my player may go to, but that doesn't mean I would choose them to beat us in a specific game, though I will always cheer for my "player" to do well in said game. 3. You can't ever color a specific gender with one brush on how they are involved with a fandom. My personal feeling is this, females do have a tendency to find a player they enjoy, be it because of personality, attractiveness factor or some other reason, but that doesn't mean that all of us are player followers. Some of us like the sport and may have one person that we connect with in that sport.
