i started a thread a couple of months ago. Who will be better in two years, Asik or Howard? Howard is on the decline and has issues that make him an unattractive teammate. His game is centered around his athleticism. Once that is gone so is his game. Stevie Franchise anyone? Asik is young and only going to get better. He's already a better teammate.

So to answer your question, NO you are not the only one!

Asik is better for team chemistry and still have room to improove since it's his 1st season being starter. I rather have Asik with cap space than bad attitude dude who shoots free-throws like my grandma! Defense and rebound almoste the same, not worth triple salary.

Asik is ONE single year younger than Howard.

You are not alone. You have a stubborn supporter in me on this matter. I would rather have the young, healthy center that hustles and works with a great attitude in Asik than the self-entitled, unhealthy drama Queen that shall be named Madam Dwight. He seems to have regressed in his skill compared to when he was in Orlando while Asik has been improving his game as time goes by. Asik hasn't even reached his ceiling in skill while Howard seems to always play the same game despite taking lessons from some of the great bigs of the time. As long as Asik stays healthy, I would prefer having Asik stay to keep chemistry and develop more under McHale than risk having Dwight run out on us with his tail between his legs with the first chance he gets.

Agree with this. Asik is a great attitude player and has developed very nicely. If I have the chance to pick up DH, I get a significant boost in offense, maintain defense and a lot less pressure on Harden during halfcourt sets. Winning has a way of changing the attitudes of players.

The thing is, with Howard's injury history and temper tantrums, is he able to justify the amount of money he's getting? This is a huge risk we're taking and I don't want a repeat of what happened with T-Mac.

Asik first year as starter and with continue tutoring by CD and McHale he will get better on the O side of the court. Plus he is not a Drama King like Howard who will ruin this chemistry in no time. I hope Howard stays in La La Land.

Pretty good assessment IMO. I don't care for the emotional baggage associated with Howard personally BUT you just compared the two and are on the money. There is no way you can say with a straight face that Asik offensively compares even remotely to DH. Your opposing scores don't think very hard about going in on Asik...something that is not the case with DH. Offensively, as you stated a WORLD of difference. Still, I don't like prima donna DH.

That's more where I'm coming from. You can't have a "superstar" at every position. With Asik, we have the 5 covered. What we really need is a star 4 and a really good backup 5. I'm pretty happy with our perimeter players, and I think we can at least get a good to better than good backup 4 from the guys we have now.

A year and half to be a little more accurate. But more importantly Howard has averaged 36 minutes for 9 years in the NBA. Asik's body hasn't gone through anywhere near the abuse that Howard's has.

Howard is having a down year but he is still out scoring and out rebounding every center in the NBA. Asik is a 10/10 guy while Howard is a 17/12 guy. Morey wants another Superstar and Howard is his guy. He have been targeting Howard since last season. So if Howard wants to come here, Morey want hesitate to sign him.

Asik has at least twice the heart of Howard.

why everyone keeps saying that when there is no proof of that?...we almost beat them WITH westbrook(and lost a game to them without westbrook)...judges took game 2 from us...lucky bounce the game 3 if i recall well... it wasnt about wess playing or not but it took us some time to adapt to playoffs and playing with thunder...it took us time to realize we can win this series...

another thing is what happened to wess is a kinda testimonial to your opinion to go for TEAMBALL and DEVELOP our role players into stars... not to sell all the roster to gather 3 OVERATED STARS who won nothing being cca 20 years in the league now........see how we adapted to injuries and the team that depended on iso plays from stars cant compete with our TEAM after a single injury...antifragile is the keyword(see bestseling author nasem taleb and his book Antifragility)

I didn't read (not trying to be rude), but Harden would play totally different with Howard being on his team than Asik. Harden makes Howard better and Howard makes Harden better.

The only relevent player we have is Harden. All the other players may have one or two great games here and there, they are not comparable to stars who only have one or two bad games in a long stretch.

Just finished watching Bulls/Nets game, and feel like there are soooo many good players in this league. Bellinelli, Robinson, Butler ... they aren't supposed to be this good!?

Sign Dwight and get great value out of Asik. I just don't see why anybody wouldn't do that.

Howard is one superstar I'm not too excited about getting. It's more of a damned if i do damned if I don't type of trade for me.
