If we have Howard, we will have a drama queen and disruptive team chemistry, and we will have worst 'hack-a-Howard' scenario in close games. Not worth it. Save the money for Josh Smith or Aldright'

I think we could use both Howard and Asik:

16 minutes Howard + Asik (awesome defensive stopper lineup)
16 minutes just Howard (post up)
16 minutes just Asik (pick and roll)

These minutes can be adjusted based on matchups.

That would leave 32 minutes free at PF for the likes of someone like (we can dream) Josh Smith.

On days when Howard + Asik is not going to work, you start Howard and back him up with Asik. But I don't get people that don't think Howard + Asik can't coexist. Isn't that just an improved version of G. Smith + Asik - the lineup that worked for us at the end of the season?

Lakers been trying to make two bigs coexist in the paint for years. Outside of the triangle it failed and Pau got moved to the top of the key and eventually to the bench.

Asik and Dwight on the floor at the same time will look like Lin and Harden on the floor at the same time. Redundant and cannibalizing each other's role

Some physical gifts are the only thing Howard has on Asik and he seems to be heading toward the down side of his career.

Thanks, right there you see in 4 out of 5 seasons he hasn't been able to play all 82 games. Asik is currently the leader or maybe 2nd for being healthy enough to play his games.

Not to mention, Howard seems to thrive only when the offense is geared around getting him the ball, while this offense is built around Harden being the the main offensive player similar to the Lakers with Kobe, can Howard adapt?

Josh Smith's free throw shooting is as bad as Dwight's

    And he's bone headed.

The difference is, the Lakers have been trying to run two players who are both LOW POST SCORERS out there at the same time. Asik is not a low post scorer, he is a cutter and he actually does very well as a weak side rebounder.

Lol he misses some games therefore he's not healthy,

Lebron James has never played every game in a season in his whole career, injury issues are people who consistently miss more than 10-15% of games, Dwight has missed more than 10% once (and Lebron is 0 at that).

Howard thrives when he has space to work in, the lakers had a 2nd big man clogging the lane (which is why playing him with Asik would be stupid) as well as no real perimeter threat to open it up.

    HAHAHAHAHAHA

Don't get LeBron then, never played all 82 games in his career ever.
Don't get Josh Smith, only played a full season once.
Don't get Aldridge, never played a full season.
Don't get Kevin Love, never played a full season.
Don't get Kevin Durant, only played all 82 (or 66 last year) 2 times in his career.
    So on, and so on.

Last year was 66 games, so the 54 there is deceptive... That said, looking at it from a pure games played standpoint, Howard is incredibly resilient. Out of the possible 722 games in his career, he has played in 697. Missing 25 games in a 9 year career is remarkable.

Totally agreed. The season is not over yet. You guys are already thinking about shipping one of our major contributors in the playoffs? Root for the guy first.

Even with Pau Gasol by his side,Howard didn't own asik the last time those two met, so i doubt asik will happily cede his starting role to Howard. Asik always put on a smile, but it doesn't mean he is a pushover.
You might argue howard was not 100 this season because of his back and shoulder injury and he will return to form next season. But considering his work ethic, next season asik will be able to play 32 m without being gassed and acquire a go to move on offense
So the available options left are
    1.play them together
A.It's plausible to do that by playing inside out. Those two will probably clog the lane, which means starting harden and lin whose strength lies in getting to the rim will be a redundancy. Lin will be the odd man(sorry man).
B.play them together just for the first 5 m.
2.Trade him and get a pf
Ryan anderson, josh smith and paul milsap.
Getting Garnet is hard because of his no trade clause. Garnet will probably take chance at forming super frontcourt with asik rather than betraying celtics
Getting kevin love is impossible, because wolves already have a good center in nikola pekovic. I doubt they want lin when they already have rubio who is far cheaper. And Lin is too expensive for a backup. Parsons is not enough to lure wolves.
The only way rockets can get love is if wolves management is very high on Dmo, and they think they have the luxury of having great yet expensive center rotation. So, Parsons,Dmo, Asik for Kevin Love trade.

Keep Asik, trade Lin. But Asiks value may be more than lins now that people have seen what each has done or not done in the playoffs

Howard injured his back last season.Infact all the ttalk about getting him was possible because of the injury, because howard would have been a beast lakers if he hadn't had the injury

I don't think we could play them together... It would clog up the paint too much. But I'd like to keep Asik for sure

I much prefer to keep Asik, get a good power forward, and let DH stay in Tinlsetown.
