I like the noises Shaq makes when they are showing highlights of 3 pointers

I don't think that's an excuse. He's not saying they were a better team, being ready to play is part of being a great team.

Not defending Shaq here because I do think he's a terrible analyst. Its important to note that the TNT crew are not in my opinion serious analysts. They are larger than life personalities & entertainers. Hubie Brown and Doug Collins are more what I would consider "analysts". Anyways back to my point-

I didn't take it as disrespect at all. Actually Shaq has said multiple times that he got owned that series by Hakeem, and credits the butt kicking he recieved from Hakeem as motivation to improve in the future.

What Shaq was talking about was early in the playoffs how his team celebrated too early, and were overly confident by how well they had played up until that point to where they didn't take the Rockets as seriously as they should.

Obviously they got swept, and nobody is going to argue that they somehow should have won the series or were favored by any stretch going against the defending world champs. However, if Orlando would have won game 1, and not lost home court advantage, it could have been a much more competitve series.

    Thanks again Nick the Brick.

Webber is great. I really hope they consider dumping Shaq from the studio show and bringing back C-Webb.

Shaq's biggest problem is his ego. He needs to be more humble and show more humility.

What star player thinks their team actually loses?

It's their style of thinking that makes them the way they are. It's everything but them doing wrong.

Shaq has perfectly good reason to rationalize this to himself. He can do what he wants, think what he wants.

OT- Get him of TNT, get Cwebb back IF you need a 4th person. I think Ernie, the Jet, and Barkley are fine as is. Cwebb is actually quite good.

But not Cwebb with GP. Those NBATV times...

I don't have any problems at all with Shaq being on TNT! He's hilarious! he's quick to give Houston credit, and does actually no what he's talking about.

I agree with a post above about Chris webber though! I think he's my favorite broadcaster on TNT!

Shaq has always given Hakeem his credit though. He has said before that Hakeem was the only guy he couldn't intimidate and that would bother him since that was a huge part of his game.

Shaq was of course wrong, but like others have pointed out, he's given tons of credit to hakeem and the rockets before.

Inside the NBA is just such a quality show, it makes the crap ESPN puts on even worse by comparison. Seriously Jalen Rose is your lead man? EJ and Kenny are great and Chuck is the perfect moron for them to play off of. Shaq isn't very good but it doesn't really matter since the other 3 are.

Shaq was just fooling around. Safe to assume his comments were too.

In his defense, give Shaq credit for spotting Durant giving up on the game on the perimeter. None of the other guys caught it. Shaq may know a thing or two about seeing that perimeter guy pout and give up in games he doesn't get the ball...

that may be true, but i think you are missing the point of why shaq even said that - the rockets need to stay focused on the next game and not celebrate too early. simple as that. seems like sound advice regardless of if his story is factually inaccurate.

Great post. Exactly how I feel. Webber is an up and coming broadcaster. Very articulate, insightful & good spirited.

That was my takeaway. They had just beaten Jordan and were high on that. They were young and didn't know any better.

But Hakeem was all-universe during that playoffs, so it wouldn't have mattered if they didn't celebrate and were focused. We were destined.
