I don't have a PG of the future. I thought Lowry was the PG of the future. Then I thought Dragic was. Then I thought Lin was. Now... I don't know. I still think it's Lin, but I don't know. I'm just along for the ride and am enjoying that once again we have two guys who could start at PG. Spoiler I hate to get dragged into the never-ending acronym labeling war, but damn, ain't that the truth? It is always someone else's fault.
Beverley does not assit much. In his playoff game of 5/1 he scored 14 points but had 1 assit in 41 minutes or 39 minutes depending whos stats you read. In the game before that he had 3 assists and he played over 40 minutes. So he scores but does not help his other team mates score much. Many people think assists are an important part of a PG's duties.
So you're saying this "OKC would've won quite handily without Lin in the game but Westbrook healthy." is not where you have problem with? Cool, true I certainly don't mean loving everyone. I just mean it's not cool to start hating on fans of a particular player and then be categorizing, labeling, over-generalizing on them.
Well, I take issue with that as well because it's impossible to predict the future but the first comment was so absurd that I put that one of the backburner. Westbrook has had more then his fair share of nights were he's shot the Thunder out of games. That said, The Thunder were the favorites to come out of the West for a reason so to say they likely beat us with Westbrook isn't outlandish. Yeah, there's no place for celebrating a players injury. It's especially ridiculous when it's a guy on your own team. I've said many times that there have definitely been some fans who joined to follow Lin but provide reasonable and well thought out responses. For those people, I feel bad because they get tossed in the barrell with people like Glacier, hocash, Bravefox and the guy I quoted above. I don't even go in the GARM anymore and that used to be one of the things I enjoyed on this site the most. There are a lot of other fans like that as well and that's where the frustration comes from
Rondo and Wesbrook have very high turnover rates. In addition, Lin has the best hands rating according tp 82games than any other Houston Player. Hands rating is a measure of "taking care of the ball" a "person's handel."
Cool, I was just saying this part was true, didn't read carefully the first part. That of course, got me thinking, why no hate on other players, why only Lin? Who is not a headcase or ballhawk? Thanks, this sucks huge. Maybe you guys should think of some way to remedy this. What? You don't go to GARM? I thought this is where we are at? I can certainly understand that. I started reading this forum in 2001 (not continuously) and it certainly wasn't like this; it was good quality, disappointing. It's tough to have good b-ball discussions with so much animosity.
Gotcha. There is hate on other players. Even Harden gets a ton of it on here. Heck our coach is referred to as Mcfail by a large group of posters. I suspect some of those guys will eventually be banned. Fact of the matter is Clutch has so much going on (he even traveled to the OKC game) that he doesn't have time to police the threads. I wouldn't either if I were him to be honest. The obvious answer would be adding mods but it's probably difficult to find someone to volunteer their time to do that. Haha. I misspoke. I meant the game thread in the GARM I came in around 02-03 and this is by far the worst I've seen. Even quality threads get derailed within a page or two. I assume a large prcentage of this board is either college students or people posting from work and nobody has time to sift through 5 pages of arguining to find 5-10 good posts. Like you said, it makes having a conversation very difficult.
It just shows how irrelevant the internet arguments are. People just express opinions, and don't take it too seriously. Everything can change in a game or two.
Sorry if this has been mentioned already, haven't had time to review recent comments. Article posted today (May 2nd) regarding Jeremy Lin. It was already known that we were a couple points better off per 100 possessions with him. But in the playoffs, we're up 21 POINTS PER 100 with Lin out of the lineup. OUCH http://bleacherreport.com/articles/...houston-rockets-better-off-without-jeremy-lin
Except for isolated posters, the hate McHale and Harden get is very mild compared to Lin. IMO it's best to distinguish between those posters and others and not let them ruin things.
Scoring and assist should both be important for a PG, but since Rockets have a SG, the scoring part for the PG is less important. His job should be create high probability shots for the team. If he is open at the 3s and only with 3 seconds left, then he should take the shot even if his is only 25% shooter.
word. the real jeremy lin played well in 1st half of playoff game 2. then injury happened. 1st game sucked but then everyone sucked.
At worst he deserves till the next trading deadline to improve his game. The 15 mil is a big gamble, I must say.
Rondo gets many more assists per turnover than Lin does. CP3 turns it over too, but for every turnover he racks up about 4 assists. Jeremy's assist/TO ratio is about 2/1 which is pretty bad compared to the better point guards in the league. He needs to get better at this.
He needs to control the offense as much as Rondo and CP3 before you can compare. The guy is like Nash and Chalmers, playing out of position most of the time
