Sure. Many fans are douches. Some of them probably would benefit from being roughed up a bit (legal risks aside).

However, while that particular fan may have crossed the line and deserved to be confronted...players are supposed to be professionals (conduct included), and part of their job is that they are expected to stay above all this no matter how stupid or offensive fans act towards them, their teammates, their family, etc. I wouldn't be surprised if the NBA decided to fine Steph Curry and Landry.

Landry's towel swipe was funny as hell though :)

Except that regular jobs don't depend on people financially supporting them. The only reason NBA players make so much money is because fans pay to see them play. I don't mind someone heckling players as long as you don't cross the line. NBA players make their money off of you caring about what they do, so you can say whatever you want.

Landry was so quick, I thought he was just randomly throwing a towel.

Wow, so would the same apply to public school teachers? Are your taxes not supporting the school districts they work for and contributing to their salaries not matter how meager in comparison to an entertainers salary?
Most areas of work require people to care about what the people in the industry do and how it applies to their lives and in turn they require the assistance of those people (lawyers, doctors, accountants, etc) and pay them for that. Regarding entertainers(sports, movies, music, people care about what they do/their industry does and how it applies to their lives- sportfans, movie fans, music fans, and in turn they require the assistance of those people to entertain them via sports, movies, music, etc)

For what? For talking to the fan? He didn't go into the stands and to our knowledge he didn't insult the fan.

Curry did nothing wrong. Fan most likely did.
Just because you pay a few hundred bucks for tickets doesn't give you the right to say whatever you want at a player. It's bothersome that people think it's okay for someone to treat the guys they pay to see like trash.

Curry didn't do anything to him other than make his day. He's an overweight pasty white kid. He'll be telling everyone he knows about how he "stood up" to an NBA player.

Meanwhile the Landry thing was funny.

    Where do you work?

All jobs depend upon other people to support them. What you really want to say is they make so much they should be able to take being treated any way the fans want to treat them. Except somehow that does not apply to CEOs when they are out even if there company is killing people.

Like others say, there are lines that shouldn't be crossed. I am a firm believer that you shouldn't say anything toward or about someone you wouldn't say in their face. Not sure where this notion that buying a sporting event ticket gives you the right to act like a complete ass comes from but I have never liked it. Nothing worse than having some drunk moron cursing like crazy and you have your kids with you.

To be honest, it's more a "public figure" thing, their job is to be a public figure, much like a politician, or Tom Cruise....

When your entire livelihood comes from being a public figure, you should have a thicker skin to criticism.

I'm with Curry on this one. Fans can get very low sometimes. I do agree though, that players should have thicker skin, but they're human too.

I think the worst I've ever said in a game was "you suck!" or "quit flopping!"

Would probably be different had it been Royce out there.

that's not an apt comparison because you don't choose to pay a teacher's salary, it comes out of your taxes regardless. If you don't care about the NBA or a team, it is still zero cost to you. Maybe I should have phrased that a little better- someone who voluntarily contributes to your salary.

What about apple engineer, grocer, banker, or most of the other jobs in the U.S. as we move to more of a service oriented nation?

The other day, I gave a tip to a waitress and then went on to berate her because I paid part of her salary.
