That's my thoughts on this exactly. Charles Barkley played in Phoenix. Reggie Miller played in Indiana. LeBron played in Cleveland. Durant plays in OKC. And of course there is Hakeem. None of these players played in a large (New York, LA, Chicago) market, yet they are ALL regarded as some of the best to ever play, and had every endorsement they could have ever wanted. It's not WHERE you are....it's WHO you are.

"Its widely believed that Dwight Howard will listen to what Dallas has to say, listen to what Cleveland has to say, listen to what Brooklyn has to say, etc." Get the iPad's ready!
Nope. Sign Dwight. Execute a S&T deal involving Asik for Paul Millsap. Send Asik to ATL, let ATL send a pick to Utah to execute a S&T for Millsap. Then wait for Love.
Yes! I would rep you more but I can’t. The “Twin Tower” concept only works when one of the towers is very skilled and can get out of the paint a little. In fact, the more skilled tower is more like a very tall/oversized 4 that can play the 5. Duncan/Robinson, Bynum/Gasol, Shaq/Eldon Campbell and of course Dream/Sampson. This is why you never ever ever saw Yao/Deke… But, dobro1229, in my humble opinion, it would be best for Howard and the Rockets to keep Asik long term. Again, I do not think they should play together on the floor but I believe that Asik should eat up a lot of Dwight’s minutes in the regular season… More often than not, when a big man starts to get injuries they never really recover, they just maintain. They become more and more brittle as the years of pounding get to their bodies. This is why I believe keeping Asik and giving him more minutes than a regular back-up is absolutely important. Both their careers can be prolonged and guarantee that we have a true 5 in the post season. And truth is, in the post season, you need to be BIG. Historically, teams with a decent stable of serviceable bigs fair better in the playoffs.
Asik's offensive game has not improved, so whether you think he or certain things can or cannot be taught, using Asik as an example of McHale teaching offense fails. Fin.
1. His game has improved. 2. I was not talking about statement you originally quoted. I was commenting on your post.
Oh man, if we got Howard, we might be able to convince CP3 to come here. The power rankings would definitely change.
Would love to keep both of course. I think keeping Asik as a backup, or trading him just depends on the upgrade you are getting in return. If there isn't a significant upgrade you can make, breaking up Asik & Howards minutes makes them that much more deadly.... ESPECIALLY since this team wants to get out and run like the wind. Ultimately though, I think there might be deals out there too tempting to not pull the triger and go with someone like Greg Smith as the backup from that point on. However, to those thinking Morey would want to include Asik in a Howard sign and trade... think again. Thomas Robinson, and Brooks would most likely be the players involved in a S&T IMO. They absolutely want to keep Asik for more than one reason rather than just give him away to the Lakers in a S&T.
Dwight wants to be on a team that he can contribute on as well as be himself. He thrived in Orlando(smaller market) where it was no pressure on him to win now. He was funny and a great teammate in Orlando and establish himself as the best center in the league. Looking at the year he had in L.A.(Bigger Market) he came back too soon from back surgery and didn't even fit in D'Antoni's system. Playing in Los Angeles provides to deliver multiple championships and contend year after year. I think Dwight should be Rocket next year because we are a good fit for him for multiple reasons. First, we have a younger and faster team and the potential offense would be similar to the one in Orlando with Parsons: 38.5% , Harden: 36.8% , Lin 33.9%. But the only thing will benefit us is the pick and roll offense and having Howard who can seal off shot blockers can create iso plays for Harden and cuts to the basket with Lin and Chandler. Second, the grass is greener on the other side, no state income tax and you can make more money here and get involved in the community of Houston. Third, we have a old school coach that has taught the likes of KG and Al Jefferson post moves so he can get better along with 24/7 access with the Dream to help him out as well.
