Nothing wrong with that definition. I was just asking him a question, to see it from his point of view. People become fans of a particular sport or team for many different type of reasons.
Not really. My definition of a TRUE ROCKETS FAN is one that prioritizes the success of the entire team over the success of an individual. I root for Rockets, not individual players. Players come and go all the time.
True to that. We got lin for another 2 years, Harden for another 5. Lets enjoy Rockets brand of basketball for the upcoming years. Which is very promising, we have a solid but inconsistent starting 5. A solid pack pg in PB,sharp shooter in CD, and FG. Just need to develop a Pf or sign one during free agency.
I have no problem with a person that is a fan of a player becoming a fan of the team. You are right. People have all sorts of different reasons of why they became a Rockets fan. However, if you (not you specifically but any fans of a specific player) put the success of that individual player over the overall success and future success of the team, we have a problem. Find a different forum dedicated to that player and talk about how awesome he is there and how much the team sucks for not playing him THERE. God knows there are a ton of player only sites out there. It was like this with Yao, then T-Mac, and now Lin, the last I always struggle to understand given his talent and potential is no where near the former two.
Very true. Our future is very promising! To add on, I never said Lin was bad or a scrub. I always said he was OK, just that I don't think he is good or great. I also have said he should start over both Bev and AB so I am not a Lin hater. I however simply don't view him as anymore than another player on this team. Parsons and Asik I really like though Asik's stone hands make me rage so hard sometimes.
I will also add I use to wrongly think he was overpaid. Having been properly educated on the current salary average of a starting PG, I will admit that he has for the most part played to his contract.
I would never call anyone a hater or a lover of anything . I don't think it is right to label anyone while sitting behind a computer and keyboard reading into their posting, but there are people that are straight up trolling tho. Lin IS average, well at least for now. I have high hopes for him to be better and be above average, not superstar. He is already a star in his own right , just be a better shooter and decision maker and we'll have a keeper for the Pg role. As for trading him, lets just wait and see. It's all speculation as of now. For those who are bashing other players just let them. It happened with Yao , Tmac, why not just ignore them, we all are adults here. If they act otherwise, then shame on them.
I hate to say this but you made a personal attack on JLin on your earlier post. You don't want to see JLin improve at an expense to Harden and Parson improvement...not exactly sure what you mean by that... T-Mac didn't get good until he left TO....Look at Vince Carter and T-MAC at that time and after he left...did you see that coming I sure didn't.
If he can't put on a shirt or reach down to tie his shoes then he should not see the court even in brief stints. . miss his play making though. the detractors only focus on that first game, where everyone was dog poop and forget some brilliant performances he had over the likes of curry and co. Harden was having trouble getting by fisher this last game, hope he picks it up.
Communist! There is no "I" in team, but there are TWO in winning! America is about the individual! Freedom! Liberty! Yeah, and guns!
Knicks are happy with Felton again. @KnicksTape 29 Apr Lol Jeremy Lin out again tonight...real clutch. Thank god he's gone and we got @RFeltonGBMS back #clutch #Knickstape
How dumb or overly sensitive are you to consider that a personal attack. A personal attack would be "Lin sucks! I hope he never plays another minute as a Rocket again!" and even then that would be a stretch. It is because I do not consider Lin an integral part of the team future. I do however consider Harden and Parsons (Harden especially) as integral to the team's future. To me, they are much, MUCH harder to replace and much more important to the future success of the team than Lin, whom I regard as easily replaceable. Also, as much as I despise T-Mac, are you seriously considering LIN to TMAC? That really takes the cake. T-Mac had INCREDIBLE skills and talent. Are you honestly suggesting that you sniff anything close to that in Lin?
Don't worry. When the Knicks are bumped out of the playoffs, their fans will throw the entire team under the bus.
The only reason I'd want him to play is to gain some experience perhaps. Either way, it won't make much of a difference the way he's been playing.
That's not what he said. He said people that root for Lin at the expense of the team should not use Clutchfans, they should be on another site dedicated to Jeremy Lin.
I know people love an underdog story, the entire weeds vs flower thing. I am not like that. I watch sports to watch people who excel at the sport I enjoy play. Underdog stories are nice, but you know what is nicer? Winning. All I care for the Rockets is winning and if a player is not contributing to that, I could care less of his underdog story or any other type of sob story.
